i feel the same way about the right. if everyone was more open about their racism and we were able to discuss it frankly we'd be able to address it and deal with it more efficiently. i doubt we'd ever eliminate it though.

that said, racism doesn't automatically equate to hatred and dislike. it's just a way of taking race into consideration when dealing with people. it's not the only factor, just one. in regards to the topic at hand race is a factor, so is class, level of political activity/apathy, where people affected get their news (thus their likelihood of knowing the new law), etc.

Awesome comeback! Hey, let's try to pretend we're not 10 years old and have an adult conversation here. The way you framed the argument was that "the liberals" were the only ones with a racism problem. Both parties have them - as I already said and I was clarifying your position.

Again, you express honesty and a level of thoughtfulness that is quite refreshing.

You are correct. Racism is not always about hate and dislike. It's also about stereotyping, pigeonholing, excusing, and low expectations. That kind of racism is practiced by many on the left, and is fostered by those who depend on it, to continue and further racism for their own power. I contend it is the major stumbling block today, to ending the cycle that has kept a significant portion of the population in poor living conditions.

Eric Holder thinks we are a nation of cowards for not having a honest discussion about race. The recent Derbyshire firing is indicative of why we dont have that honest discussion....people are concerned for their professional and economic well being from the racialist Left's army of legal and media assaults.

I made no such claim. It's only your own prejudice that assumes racism is a conservative problem, that made you see things that weren't written.

The left's insidious racism of low expectations, is largely ignored by those on that side of the political debate.

Derbyshire's firing was justified. From a journalistic standpoint, his integrity is called into question for blatantly distorting what the facts are. I'd personally like to see the heads of more media organizations, left and right alike, do the same thing.

Try reading what I write next time instead of trying to come up with some witty remark instead. Here, I'll repeat it for you again: There's racism on both sides of the political spectrum. The only reason to argue that "one side does it more than the other" is to sit there and continue the divide along party lines, which gets nothing accomplished.

I don't see how this issue even came about. I had a ID card long before I had a driver's license. An ID is relatively easy to obtain as long as you're a legal citizen so there should be no problem.

The statistics which show that minorities and the elderly are significantly less likely to already have the the required ID are not "racist."

Voter ID laws favor those who drive and more fully participate in other areas the government regulates.
