This article got Derbyshire canned from National Review. It is in response to the plethora of articles posted after the Zimmerman shooting, some of which are linked and referred to in the article.

Stupid article.

The white talk is more like this:

"Don't dress like a gangsta' thug. You look stupid and it will hurt your chances in life. Take the sticker off your hat and bend the rim. Wear clothes that fit you (i.e. aren't too baggy, though hipsters have taken the advice to an extreme) and keep your pants at or above the top of your hips. Don't get stupidly large rims on your car, and don't get a magnaflow exhaust pipe on it either. People will judge you for being the idiot that you are."

The problems with these actions being advised against is not that they are similar to actions frequently observed among minorities. The problem with these actions is that they make the person doing these actions look like an immature dolt. What minorities refuse to absorb is that those in power can see the actions for what they are. They think they are being judged based on their race, ethnicity, and culture. Well maybe a little bit on culture, but that's something they are in control of. They are being judged for their actions. There is no double standard. If there is one, it is that whites are openly told how stupid they look with corn rows in their hair and are promptly thrown in the dumpster.

ETA: While we are on the topic. Whites do not have a strong cultural background. This is a strength, not a weakness. No one tries to connect with their Scandinavian/English/Scotch Irish/Danish roots except in AmEx commercials. There is little value placed on the historical position of whites in "white" culture. There is more value placed on the proper frothing of a latte than there is on western/northern European traditions. This is a place where EV and I probably disagree strongly.

The article is pretty bad. The "scientific evidence" that the author links to is actually misinterpreted by the author himself. Either he didn't even read the scientific evidence he cited or he decided to take it out of context for his own agenda.

The article is crap and I'm glad he was canned.

Well he does mention to his "kids" that black people can call themselves the "N word" but "we" can't say that.

Interestingly enough, this stigma is only applied to one group. All other groups are allowed, lauded, and encouraged to talk about White Europeans and Society and Culture in critical and disparaging, even demonizing manners.

Remember that in the past the stigma was reversed. Those minorities dont remember those days fondly. I wonder how they think that White Europeans will be remembering these days in the future.

They won't because only folks like you care about white heritage. As I said in a previous post, the generally weak tie white people have with their ancestral culture is common. This "here and now" culture has drawbacks, but I believe to be one of the greatest strengths among successful people of all color. They don't care about history except in showing them how people have failed and succeeded in the past, they care about making progress and profit not about uplifting their cultural group, honoring their ancestors, or following outdated traditions.

Europeans in the past left Europe and were forced (and even embraced) becoming American (which meant Angloizing). They rallied together under the White banner. Now that banner is being stigmatized. any solidarity of that group to their own interests and promotion of those values and heritage. In essence they are being denied their identity whilst simultaneously all "Others" are heavily into Identity Politics and promotion of their cultrue, values, worldviews, heritage, interests, etc as well as promotion of tribal loyalty.

This is the Anti-Europeanism that we are experiencing as the Zeitgeist right now.


I understand your utopian vision, and to some extent it is already in play. The cultural guilt of White Europeans and the massive prosperity and its re-distribution of all "Others," is what we are experiencing. When that prosperity runs out and we dont have the wealth to smooth things over and Whites re-join the Identity Politics, things will get ugly fast.

In order for your vision to work, non-Europeans likewise should be stigmatized from identifying and organizing with their ethnic groups in promotion of their interests, values, culture, etc. That isnt happening. So White Europeans will be back with Identity Politics vengence eventually. (I believe Bill Clinton has referred to this as a good result of the demographic disempowerment of White Europeans, the ability to organize as a self-interested minority).

Diversity Promotion and Multiculturalism are driving the demographic and institutional and political disempowerment of White Europeans, and that is being driven by Minority "Other" Identity Politics. White Europeans will eventually clue in, ditch the guilt and join the tribalist party....because not playing makes them the losers by default.

I see no movement whatsoever of minority groups ditching Identity Politics, Diversity Promotion, and Multiculturalism in an effort to create an equitable universalist future.....of shared American Identity (aka assimilation), equality before the law, equal opportunity, etc. Only tribalist spoils systems and self interest.

Stipulating everything you say is true, whites will become minority and then according to you the white minority will then push aside the non white majority. And we go around and around and around. So then what's the problem?

See, when you pretend to be logical and historical, you dig a hole and get trapped in it. What you should do it to simply stick with your racial views. White is good. Black is bad. White people never did what you predict blacks would do to the white. No siree.

Just leave logic alone and stick to you regular MO of inflaming racial tensions.

Americanism is a very simple concept. It's about liberty and freedom. Do what you want but don't force it on others. If you want to be successful you have to appeal to many people. Anyone falling for identity politics is a fool who has lost their power to those who create narratives about one "tribe" or another. If you can be tricked into being part of a voting bloc, they already have you in their grasp. Those in power do not need to form a new tribe to protect their power, they simply drive one tribe at another, and you are the one falling for it. People need to let go of their bonds as hyphenated Americans. They should just be Americans. Even in this task they should not necessarily identify with the past of America except in learning lessons. What good does it do for blacks to blame slavery today? It's ridiculous. It holds them down. Embracing an identity only weakens your position as an individual in society. Do you see who has the power today? Is it the different tribal identity people? No they are marginal. The real threat to Americanism is the unified position of Statists (R)'s and (D)'s alike. The encroachment on all of our rights, one small step at a time. A step hear in the name of national security. A step there in the name of general health and welfare. A step over there claiming your at home actions are province of the federal government because it might somehow have an effect on interstate commerce.

To summarize, those that embrace their tribal identity regardless of what it is, will be less successful. They will always use it as a crutch. "I got pulled over cause I'm black." "I didn't get that job because of affirmative action and I'm white." "I can always expect another ______ to have my back because I'm a ______." These are attitudes that weaken people, it does not empower them. Even if their tribe helps to advance them, they will lose self worth and feel indebted to those that helped, instead of truly proud of their own accomplishments.

People must learn to make improvements not excuses. Identity politics will not make improvements but merely try to place blame on others, and make excuses for failure. There is no need to fear that such a group of people will gain substantial power.
