anyone care to elaborate the difference between TF-101 and Ipad1? Is this a better deal than ipad 64gb for same price inc taxes?

I can report at least a little bit of good news with these orders. Rec'd mine yesterday and it looks and works like new. Impressive tablet, and I don't notice any lag in the screens or anything.
Was trying to decide if I need to order a screen protector. I thought I read somewhere that this model has Gorilla Glass, but earlier in the thread, someone said it does not. However, when I search Google for that term along with this model of tablet, lots of sites say this model has Gorilla Glass. While doing that search, I came across this interesting video on YouTube [youtube.com] where they demonstrate how tough the glass is on this model of tablet. For instance, they use the glass as a cutting board, drop a bunch of tacks on it, etc. After seeing that, don't think a screen protector is necessary! Worse comes to worst, if you're not able to return it then try opening it up and re-seating all the cables (even if they look OK). LED's rarely burn out so it's likely a problem with the connection and I have heard of the cables working loose on these. |

No problems with mine. It looks like New and works perfectly even after the upgrade to IceCream sandwich.
The screen resolutions is awesome. No Backlight Bleed problems in mine. Coming from an iPad1, I am having to get used to the new form factor and some apps that I use seem to be missing in the android market. |

I have an update on mine, now that I've been using the tablet for a few days. At first it seemed to work fine, but now even though it's got a fully charged battery, when it is not plugged in and you try to turn it on, it does not always go on. In fact, you may have to push and hold the button 10-20 times to get it to turn on. This is after a full shutdown (when you hold the button down for several seconds and then choose the option to fully turn off the tablet). And I understand that you have to hold the button down for many seconds to turn it on.
Weird thing is, if it is plugged in, then the on button works fine. Tried a factory reset, but that did not fix it. In trying to find a solution to this problem, I've found all kinds of people having the same problem with this tablet (just search Google for "transformer" or "TF101" and "won't turn on" and you'll see all the people that have been having this problem). It looks like there's no good solution to this problem ... most people just returned their tablet or sent it in for the warranty repair. That's probably why many of these ended up as refurbished units ... because of that problem that apparently they haven't fixed. Will likely be sending mine back for a refund, unless I can find a solution somewhere. Anyway, wanted to mention this problem so people test their tablets when it's not plugged in, to make sure they are not having this same problem. Last edited by Studly; 04-30-2012 at 08:19 AM.. |

Got my Transformer today. Seems nice so far, but was disappointed to learn it uses a proprietary charger and doesn't have a micro USB input. That means all the micro usb charging cables I have around my house are now useless to it, and I can never lose the one short cable ASUS provides to charge. This could get annoying quick.
Obviously I should have done my homework, I just assumed the standardized charging method would be used. My girlfriend's Kindle Fire charges with micro usb, why wouldn't the Transformer? Last edited by cfbauer; 04-30-2012 at 05:07 PM.. |

Received my TF101 lastnight. First thing I did was root that bitch!
![]() Download OTA Rootkeeper and did .21 update. I got an SBKv2 (C30) Running smooth so far, no random reboot or lockups. I do have screen bleeding pretty bad though not sure if it warrant an exchange.I may get a worse unit. Oh well, still a slick deal! Edit: Suffered from several Random Reboots last night while view photos. Woke up in the morning and saw the thing stuck at boot screen. Looks like this Piece of Crap is going back to for a refund. I'll wait until a decent priced Tegra3 unit arrives later. Last edited by jdpdata; 05-02-2012 at 09:07 AM.. |

If no label by Fri, then I'm going to have to go the paypal case route. Haven't left feedback yet, but I paid 250 bucks for a piece of junk that's taking up space for nothing while they get to keep my money. I'm kind of wondering how long it'll take them to issue a refund. |
