Dell 11z Core i3 11 in laptop + 2GB RAM + 16GB USB + Mouse for $349

Returned the Acer this morning and just put in the Newegg order. I got the combo with the wireless mouse. I'd have preferred a lower price for the laptop without the extras but I really need the laptop now and this looks to be the most decent deal. I know a month from now some ridiculous deal will come along but this is a laptop I should have gotten back in winter. Wasted too much time.

I just got mine and it looks nice! I'm configuring it now so I haven't played with it much. A few first impressions. Screen size is perfect and VERY clear. Love it. The brushed aluinum look by the keyboard is great. My keyboard is flush (unlike reports from the other thread some had issues with), and while the battery is considered flush it does stick out. The old 11Z's were WAY worse. This bulges a little and is angled probably to help the angle of the keyboard when on a table. I'm a little annoyed at this. The computer is listed as 0.95 inches thick. That should be the THICKEST part of it, not the thinnest. the front is, but the back is 1 5/16th thick. That's significant. I wanted it to be thinner than my netbook and its about equal to it. Oh well. The piano black picks up finger prints and lint like no ones business. Not a biggie. The wall adapter is HUGE and in 2 parts. That's annoying too as my netbook has a very discrete one that is easy to travel with. Not this one. its a brick. Too bad there are some annoyances but I'm sure I'll still enjoy it. I upgraded to 8gb ram instantly and have an over all 3.3 windows experience index. Can't wait to play with it more.

got mine too and yes, finger prints are inevitable.

@Guyman - what memory did you pick up and how was the performance after?

It went from a 4.9 memory rating to 5.1. Not huge in terms of the Index. I didn't use it much with only 2gb in it. just wanted to make sure it worked first. From what I've read it makes a HUGE difference, but battery life will be slightly less.

This is a very nifty little laptop. I purchased mine while back and have been rather pleased it. Remember your not buying a supper laptop. Simply put this is a decent mobile alternative to your desktop and that is exactly what I use it for. Works great. I did upgrade the ram to 8gb (comes with 2gb) and this helped a bit. The speakers on this device are remarkable. Really they will kick the crap out of most laptops. I was blown away by them. The screen is nice and vivid. The keyboard is also smooth and has a chicklet feel. Over all if your looking for something small compact and loud, this it. Also lets not forget that it comes with an i3 cpu. Yes its not clocked at a high speed but still it hasn't given me any issues.

It does come with MS Office Starter. I got it yesterday and haven't played around with it much but it already is faster than the Acer I returned. I also do not have any issues with the touchpad. Maybe because it's similar to my Toshiba laptop's touchpad. So I'm not sure I'm even going to bother with the wireless mouse. May put that up on CL.

I installed the Kingston 2GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 RAM that came bundled with the laptop combo. This is my first time installing RAM and as far as I can tell--it's been wholly unsuccessful. When I my system info, it still lists my laptop as 2GB, though it should now be 4GB. Just to be sure, I switched the laptop's original 2GB stick into the upper slot and the Kingston into the lower slot and the computer is still listed as 2GB.

Help? I followed the instructions on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhEeVJmtTG4. It seemed easy enough...

Nevermind, I re-installed the sticks and now all 4gb are showing. I hadn't snapped the top stick in place.

Happy with the speed on this laptop. It's definitely not a netbook.

What the... why am I getting a 2.3 Windows Experience Index for Graphics?

Do your guys know how to install the Gobi 2000 card's driver? I mean, how to let the 3G moduel and GPS work? I have spent one whole day to solve this problem, first in WIN 7, then reinstall Win XP. Still not get answer.

That is nice and you would be eligible for a free or very cheap upgrade to windows 8. BUT you would only have a 60gb hard drive. That kinda sucks.

are you talking about $15 windows 8 upgrade?
