I went to three Staples and two would stack. Picked up two, one for me and one for a friend who saw mine. Great low light performance, 30x optical zoom, 1080P and lots more. IS isn't the best but for $115 it's a hell of a lot of camera. |

size
How does the size of this camera compare to a DSLR? I have the Pentax K-x and I wanted to make sure this was smaller than it (want to take the Kodak on vacation but not worth it if it's the same size as my DSLR.) How does it compare to the size of the Nikon L120?

I have had my Z990 for 6 months or so and LOVE it! Has great IQ at all focal lengths, full 1080 HD video, and excellent macro. It's menu is a little convoluted and the write times to the sd card is slower than most cams, but I can live with that (improved times with a Class 10 sd card) and love it for it's great image quality.
I just picked up another new one at Staples for $120. (tax included) to use when or if my other one is down. Btw, I used the Staples 30% off clearance cameras coupon and then their $25. off coupon..customer service rep stacked both at checkout! View user images with the Z990 here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/kodkz990/ Size: the Z990 is smaller than your Pentax DSLR (I shoot Canon DSLR) and weighs less. It's slightly larger than the Nikon L120, but has 30x optical vs the Nikon's 21x optical. Last edited by jimx200; 04-23-2012 at 10:48 AM.. |

Anyone else purchase one of these?
Looking for something low cost and this is looking like a good option. It will be replacing my Canon A520 (which still works fine). Mainly looking for longer optical zoom and like the HD video option. At this point I don't really have the need for a true DSLR. |

Reviews appear to be mainly very positive, though I still cannot find reliable info on actual "time to shoot" from turning on the camera.
Anyone know how fast this camera "starts up" and is ready to shoot? I've also heard that the "focus and shoot" time might not be immediate, can anyone comment on how well this camera does in time-sensitive situations? All-in-all looks like a great camera for the price, especially for those of us that can't afford a true DSLR camera I'll try anything once, and most things twice.
