I am thinking about getting the XPS deal now appearing under hot deals. Only problem is I work at home and need a large monitor, keyboard and mouse. Now I am using a HP 8710W and a docking station so all is fine but if I go to the XPS how will I hook up a large monitor without plugging and unplugging cords when i want to take it and be wireless?
I suppose I can get a wireless keyboard and mouse to take care of that problem (I actually use the Logitech anywhere mouse so that will be OK).
Also I guess that means I'll be on wireless all the time as I will have no stationary Ethernet port.
Maybe it is not a docking station I need but maybe someone can help out.
FYI, the universal docking stations mentioned earlier are basically a usb hub with a collection of peripherals all together (they can be tricky under Mac OS X or Linux). They connect to your computer by USB and often provide ethernet, audio in/out and a relatively low performance video output. I would still tend to use the video out from your laptop over that from one of these docks. A USB hub and a collection of peripherals you assemble is another option to reduce the number of things your plugging and unplugging.
Things like this: http://hengedocks.com/ are available for macs, I've never been a big fan but it's possible something like this is available for certain pc laptops.
