Please help me find a video card for Diablo III Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 3 GHz

i have a dell DXP01 and and a motherboard OCT07 you think it would work?

Thanks & repped - I still haven't decided on a card yet. The 7750 I'm ok with I don't wanna upgrade my PS. However the 7750 doesn't have dual DVI for 2 montiors :-( - What's the best card for dual DVI out?

Looks like I don't have much of a choice but to upgrade the PS, 300W is just too weak. Think I'm gonna get a 500W - need a good dual DVI vid card now...

Mine CPU is overclocked using the electrical tape mod, lol. I did it when I first got the tower and has worked great since I did it. I never used the tower without it so can't tell you if I noticed a difference or not.

So any advice Axeman now that I got a better power supply? Gotta have dual dvi.

I'm not gonna upgrade the RAM but am gonna install 64 bit. I already didn't wanna reinstall windows or buy a new PSU but looks like those had to be done.

Can you cancel that order still? You never want to go cheap with power supplies. You would be better of with this one [newegg.com] or the 500W version. They go on sale for $20 or less and $30 or less every month.

I just can't trust that cheapo power supply. Plus it is at least 10% less efficient. You will make up the extra cost in your power build real quick.


Do you plan on playing any other games on this computer other than Diablo 3? If not you could get away with a cheaper card with 1 GB ram. If you ever plan on playing more demanding games, you are probably going to need at least a 1.25GB card due to your higher resolution monitor. 1.5GB would be even nicer. But you pay more for the better cards, then pay some more extra for the extra video ram. These would be the 560 ti's and 6950's. Or if you really wanted to you could go big and get an expensive card that might last you through your next build.

If you go the just D3 route, either the GTX 460 256bit 1GB version or the Radeon 6850 are good choices. You have to be careful with the 460 though, there are four different versions with the same name but quite different performance levels. The 6850's are all coming with the game Dirt 3 for free right now at Newegg.

I can't cancel the ps ordered already. I was looking at that one you posted there but figured I would take my chances with the cheaper one it has the most reviews out of any power supplies so will see. Just looking to do D3 I really don't game at all on my PC just wanted to play that game. If I didn't just put the SSD in I would have considered buying a new tower but the computer is plenty fast for just browsing around. I'll prob replace it in a few years. Will that 6850 fit into my Inspiron case? It looks kinda big. Are you planning on getting DIII?

How wide is your case? I am seeing both a thin version and a normal version. The slim is around 3.5 inches wide, with the normal being about 6.7 inches. If you have the normal version you should be ok, but I would still measure on the inside of the case the length and width you have available for the card just to be sure. You never know with OEM cases. If you have the slim version, you may need a low profile card, something much less powerful..

Depending on the room you have you could get the 8.54" x 4.72" MSI card [newegg.com], or the 10.24" x 4.84" Asus card [newegg.com].

They both come with Dirt3, and the MSI one comes with NBA 2k11 as well at an extra $15 though.

I might get Diablo 3, on sale though if I ever do get it. I'm not sure I am willing to put in the time to really move through it. I already have 4 or 5 games I play fairly regularly, and I have a bunch of games on Steam I still haven't touched.


Oh did you see the front page deal on the GTX 460. It isn't quite as powerful as the 6850 but it will still handle D3 just fine. Make sure to use the wiki link for the 2 free games.

I really prob won't play any other games. I have played any games really at least consistently since I got this thing. Might pick of that one from Tiger Direct if u think it's decent. That's an expensive power supply.. Considering the corsair 430 builders are good and can be found for 20-30 bucks...

I know it's not as good but I'm sure I will be replacing my tower in the next few years so not gonna invest in super nice stuff for this rig.

That 460 will handle D3 with ease. The 1GB of ram will be plenty for D3. Now if you went high texture Skyrim or BF3 at high textures you would run out of ram. But since D3 is a relatively low requirement game, you won't hit your ram limit. Go ahead and grab it while you can. Make sure to get the one with the two free games. If you don't want them, make someone's day by giving them away. Or heck even sell them for cheap.

Just ordered the GTX460 (bundle with games) - The card looks kinda big hopefully it fits ok. Not looking forward to reinstall windows again (64 bit) but oh well the SSD drive helps a lot. I appreciate all your help.
