not being able to afford it has nothing to do with it...my uncle bought a bose system for his living room and I thought it was nice but I just couldnt justify spending the money. I ended up buying a pioneer elite receiver VSX-92TXH and set it up with definitive technology speakers (bp2004tl speaker, mythos 3 and powerfield 1800) I spent less than a grand on all of this and it blew the bose system right out of the water. So I can tell you first hand that bose is definitely not what it use to be. on the other hand my uncle has a set of the original 901's by bose and those are just amazing.

So it is all about very little experience then, LOL!

Bose makes a quality product just like so many others, your uncle I am guessing bought a lifestyle system which he is probably very happy with.

Making up a system too your taste using different equipment to customize a system is quite different then buying a set system and if you are happy with it great!

Still you are dead wrong that any Bose products are " mostly overhyped, overpriced junk" as the quality is there it is really that you like the sound of other company's products.

By the way what does this have too do with the headset discussed here??? LOL, no experience again is the answer....

I'm trying to tell you that Bose is not as good a product as you may think....It is simply a reputation that they built that allows them to sell expensive products "which are way overpriced"

Think about their customers. Most of them are older people that really don't have much knowledge in AV. They go to a store and are told by the reps that this is the best system available "also most expensive in most cases" So they go ahead and buy it.

Like I said I have heard both a bose systems and many other setups and in most cases the bose is outperformed both with clarity and power.

Go read around on this websitehttp://www.avsforum.com/ and you will see that I am not the only one. This is one of the largest AV websites and it is pretty unanimous that Bose is expensive because of its brand rather than performance.

You can also go to Magnolia and have them show you some of their setups at around the same price range and you will be amazed.

I am not saying that they are horrible products, just that their prices are too high
