128gb should be more then enough for the average person.

im running on 60gb for over 4 years on my laptop and never maxed you
but i am careful not to fill it with crap. i dont need or use. also videos and huge things go on a external hard drive.

Then set it up on RAID0, it'll be faster than any 120gb drive you can buy, and it'll be awesome!

Just make sure you do incremental backup every couple weeks and full image every so often in case one fail.

nope. but most raid0 setups will be faster than what trim will offer, even if you get close to filling the drive up.

What does it mean exactly you don't get trim with Raid 0? Isnt trim supposed to dramatically improve the lifespan of the drive? Isn't that something you ALWAYS want?

trim maintains the speed of the drive as the drive fills up.

I don't know much about the exact details, but that's the general gist of it.

Data on an SSD is constantly moved around to different areas of flash memory to allow even wearing of all the flash cells (well that's one reason it's moved around). The more unused space there is to move the data around (i.e. the less filled the drive is), the more efficient data shifting is. TRIM allows the OS to tell the SSD which areas of flash are unused so the SSD can use it safely without overwriting valid user data. If the OS didn't do this, the SSD would consider almost everything "used data" and not have as much freedom to move data around.
