Quick question - I'm currently using a Patriot 64GB Sata II but my Motherboard supports* Sata III. Toshiba though, locked it down to Sata II apparently? Does anyone know whether the 128GB Crucial would offer better speeds than the Patriot? I have dual SSD/HDD on my laptop but it would be easier to not have to save everything on to the HDD.
Wish I'd been in the market when the price was lower. Purchased this today. Total came to $56.35 after everything. Still a great deal for me, but >50 would've been much sweeter. Trying to get an old MacBook up and running a bit faster:
84.99 (price match Amazon)
1.25 (Cost of Coupon)
-10.00 (Amexsync Tweet)
5.11 (sales tax)
Never done a Price-match VIA Chat... Is there a thread of what to say or what not to say?
No thread, but it's pretty simple.
1. Order the item
2. Start up chat
3. say "I just placed an order for XXXX (order #12345) but found it cheaper at XXXX.com. Could you please give me a price match?"
4. Wait a couple min for rep to research and say yes
5. Credit will show up to your card in a few days
I installed this drive on my desktop which uses a msi motherboard and I had to struggle to make it work with Windows 7.
The install itself went through fine but after installing patches/updates it would not boot. I also discovered that the image copy option had it's own problems. Win 7 creates two partitions - one a reserved partition of 100MB on which some information is written during a image backup and a second partition where the OS is installed.
Apparently you need at least 50MB free space on the reserved partition for the image backup to go through. After a couple of times of creating image backups I started getting messages that there was not enough space.
Anyway I finally made the install work by changing my bios setting to raid for the sata controllers.
