Reviews seem iffy on savings with the CO2 cartridges and the syrups. Bottles have to be replaced every 3 years. No warranty coverage on o-rings.

Is there a way to figure out what you actually get with this? How many 1 liter bottles, how many (I assume small) CO tanks? It looks like its the Genesis model so 1 bottle and one small tank? I definitely have an interest.but more CO2 bottles will be pricey initially, and if no free shipping on small tanks, will continue to be pricey.

I think this deal would work only if you'd use the rebate that the OP talks about because it says it's for ANY sodastream. The rebate linked directly from sodastream's website is only for the Fizz, which I haven't seen Target sell.

I think it would be a better deal to get it from Staples

How much would each liter be? I buy them at the supermarket for about $0.70. Would this machine be cheaper.

You realize a bigger savings by not having to use the mail for replacing the carbonators (shipping costs!)--and for buying the Sodastream syrups from anywhere but Sodastream's website, which almost always has them at full price. I usually buy them from Kohl's, when they are on sale, and when I also have a 30% off code. But, lots of people make their own sugar syrups or buy other brands (Torani?).

I got my SS unit from a product test, so I didn't pay for it, but I don't live within 100 miles of any retail outlet where I could trade in the empty carbonators, so I have to mail the empties back when I purchase filled ones through Sodastream.

There are er...adaptations...out there in the ether that would allow you to modify other carbonators to work with SS's proprietary valve, but you're on your own if it screws up, and it's beyond the realm of my skillz to mess with it. The kit runs around $100, and if you search SD for other Sodastream threads, I'm pretty sure there are links to such sites, already posted.
