I'm coming from a Brother 2140 that worked flawlessly with the Meritline cartridges and tape tricks. I think Brother figured the 2280DW out on now to get around the tape trick. Hopefully the Meritline cartridges reset the low toner pop ups. My scanner also quit working, even after a complete reinstall of the software. I've been less impressed with the 2280DW compared to the 2140. The print quality on both is still excellent, but the quirks are maddening on the new model. If anyone has another work around, let me know. |

As for your continued comments touting non-OEMs in a deal thread for OEM toner, it's a joke. We get it. You prefer non-OEM toner. Let it go. Do you really have to shove that opinion like a broken record on everyone here who wants OEM toner? You remind me of the trolls who harp on buyers who choose to buy a new Macbook or Ipad. Rather than discuss that deal, they repeatedly urge them to buy a refurb because in their opinion it is"just as good." Here's a novel idea. Go start a thread about $15 non-OEM reconditioned toner cartridges if you love them so much. I'm sure there are others out there who do to, hence the market for them. Then you can leave everyone else here alone. |

And it sure is his opinion but it is also supported by fact. Do you disagree there are standards? do you disagree that recyclable ink is not good for the environment? do you disagree that it is cheaper? You can have an opinion so long as it's based on fact. I did a few minutes research and did find a couple more articles, one from printworld (a trade magazine) and PCworld where they actually did test OEM vs non-OEM. And this is the conclusion they came up with
The PrintWorld article also discusses some of the merits of non OEM ink (i've attached both articles btw).

Oh man, I wish I had waited to buy my replacement cartridge. I bought one of the generics off Amazon, but lots of them have really bad reviews. I would have paid the little extra here to get Brother carts.
I have used generics in my inkjets, they were decent enough that I could not see much difference from the OEM carts. |

Ordered two toners and had them price match Amazon. Also applied $26 in Staples rewards (from the recent Duracell AA/AAA batteries deal), and the CSR also put in a request to credit me back $25 (for using a $25 off $75 coupon) to my credit card, after I had completed the order. Submitted the Staples Easy Rebates right after that and I'm all set. Finally, did the whole order through e b a t e s for an additional 2% cash back.

Thanks OP! TU, I got them to PM Walmart on the TN-420 for $31.88 each. Link [walmart.com]
I also used a $25/$75 on the original purchase. The chat rep said no problem with the PM they didn't even mention that it brought it under the original $75. So I ended up with 2 cartridges for $38.00 before tax. Can't beat it for two OEM cartridges. Now off to file that rebate. Last edited by mcdrng; 04-25-2012 at 04:13 PM.. |

I was glad to get the regular ones at a discounted price, with as little as we print (have had the starter one for 5 months now and it's still not out) I may not have to buy anymore for quite sometime. |
