I think my initial opinion was formed because I made the ignorant mistake of looking at it like a traditional MMO where you just simply rush through doing quests and killing things. After I did a couple of the personal story instances, I realized that this is something completely different. After I fiddled with the interface and got used to the controls more, I really started having fun.

After the stress test was over, I went and watched a ton of Youtube videos describing the features and what the game has to offer. It hit me that this is probably the MMO that I've been waiting to come along for a long time now.

I love the game, but I do agree that the camera takes some getting used to. I was in the closed beta and all the beta weekends and the camera is a non issue now after all that playing. The biggest problem I have is when you back up against a wall or object and the camera zooms in a lot causing you to become disoriented about your surroundings. It is a problem mostly when doing jumping puzzles.

Still compared to GW 1, the camera is 100 times better Just the satisfaction of being able to circle strafe while casting a spell in a battle is enough for me, or jump down a cliff instead of having to run 5 minutes to a spot I can walk down.

Yeah my couple of years with GW, GW:F and GW:NF taught me the camera for the most part. And the 3d environment is a huge improvement. I only participated in the last beta weekend and had some trouble with the combat - it was much much different from GW1; lot of strafing / dodging. I played Elementalist so I didn't have much HP and died quite a bit at first. Figured it out though. I really enjoy the fluidity of the combat now.

Anyone think about what build they will start their first toon with? I am going with a condition dps Warrior or maybe go towards more of a tank warrior with ally support.

Elementalist - haven't had enough experience to speak to weapon type and / or specialization, though I enjoyed the Fire and Lightning spells.

Yeah elementalist is my 2nd choice, but since Warrior was my closed beta character I want to stick with that. guildwars2guru.com has some good discussions for builds for specific professions.

I'm a newbie here but I'm so stoked for GW2 - played a Mesmer at launch in GW1 and won the hall of heroes multiple times when I joined up with a solid guild (back when it meant something). I will likely roll another Mesmer so if a skilled guild needs one just let me know. I have lots of FFXI and WoW experience as well on my "MMO Resume".

I am however hoping the controls have been tightened up since beta, as a previous poster mentioned they did seem pretty unrefined. Honestly seeing as I sit in front of a PC all day at work (like some of you I'm sure) I'm debating trying to use a controller with GW2 using Xpadder. I know, I know, KB+Mouse only for MMOs, but I gave TERA a shot with controller and although the game was mediocre it was nice to relax and play the game not sitting in a desk chair. Anyone else considering something similar? Initial reports say it's quite playable actually...

Woo hoo! Maybe they will be doing one every week until launch?

goin into this game with only about 20 hours logged into GW1 (none of the expansions)
hopefully i won't be bored of it in a week.

stress test starts in about 45 minutes for those interested.

Not worth it for me but Sunday there will be an hour long stress test starting at 11 am pacific.

Kinda bummed that it's only an hour. They sure know how to tease us!
