Yes, you have to wait for a statement. The points will be earned but pending until your next statement is issued. On that date your points balance will reflect everything earned for that period - including the bonus for your card. This is true for any kind of points you earn - always come through on your statement date.

You do not necessarily have to wait for the statement for points earned on purchases at the UR Mall to post.

Transactions and extra points should appear within 6 to 8 weeks after the transaction has been charged to your Chase account, though it is typically much faster. You can see your points by logging on directly to the UR site at chaseultimaterewards.com.

Ya, I got that. It says I earned 10,000 points however those 10,000 points are not reflected in my shown balance yet. Basically as I mentioned in the OP

Hopefully the above guy is right and they just come through when the statement posts.

i have a question that i've been looking everywhere to get answered. I have the freedom visa and i already got my 30,000 bonus posted. now i have to reach a minimum on a citi card. do you know if shopping through the ultimate rewards portal gets you bonus points if you check out with a different card? i've seen mixed answers and I'm holding off on big purchases until i'm sure. i've made a few small purchases but i don't see any posted yet, not even paid with my chase.

so to clarify, can I check out with a non-Chase card and/or a different one, say my Chase Southwest card? or do you have to use the freedom card always.

This is true. The rewards points come in when the statements are out.

The Ultimate Rewards system is integrated within Chase. So, if you've got a Chase card, regardless of which one, you'll get the points. You can also transfer points among your cards. I've got 3 Chase Freedom cards and 1 Sapphire Preferred card and I can transfer all my points in my 3 Freedom cards to the Sapphire Preferred card. Non-Chase card would not work because you'll have to login to your CC account to make the purchase.

You can't use your Citi card to earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points. Citi has their own system called Citi Thankyou points. Look it up and you'll find a shop just like Chase's UR Rewards shop, but this will be called Citi Thankyou shop. This should count towards your towards your intended minimum balance, but you'd have to clarify with them.






Brings me to another question, if anyone cares to answer. Since I've got a Chase Sapphire Preferred card, I can transfer my UR points as United Airlines (UA) miles. UA is in the Star Alliance and I'd really like to use my miles on ANA instead of UA. Anyone knows if it's possible to transfer my UR points to UA, and then ANA? I've got an ANA Mileage Club membership and it'd be great if I can combine this with my existing miles at ANA.
