Radar detector false laser alerts in driveway

Per a SlickDeal, I bought the Beltronics 995 radar detector a few months ago. It detected laser for the first time two days ago, actually twice in the same day. I know it was real because I saw both cops doing it and proceeded to watch them pull over other cars.

Later the same day, I was backing out of my driveway and it detected laser. No cops around. I drove down the street and it went off again. I unplugged it and plugged it back in, hoping it was a glitch. Now today, I just pulled out of my driveway and it happened again! No cops, no other cars.

What can cause a false laser alert? It hasn't happened once in the past two months until the past two days. I'm stumped.

Yupp. But I feel like something is causing it rather than it's malfunctioning...

Radar detectors are know for going off with interference and show false positives. If it's happening in the same place in your neighborhood, I would have to say its interference from something.

lol that's my assumption as well. I know that other radar detectors, automatic doors, etc. can all give false K band alerts. But I don't know what can give false laser alerts.

Could it be the electric eye of the garage door opener?

my pos cobra every once and a while goes off in my garage. Other times randomly driving I get the V band or something which I know cant be anything. I'm sure yours is fine.

Doubtful. The first time I was in the street already, the second time all the way down the block, and the third time in the driveway.

Perhaps some kind of house security system. Shock sensors on the windows? Not really sure what the detectors pick up on, but I thought they needed line of sight so it shouldn't be triggering unless something is pointed right at your car.

Could be one of your neighbors vehicles equipped with laser guided cruise control. My V1 gets interferance from infiniti SUV's.

This started happening again! The problem stopped for a while, but it started about 4 days ago. Now the false alerts are happening everywhere! Garage, driveway, driving, sitting parked with the car on, etc.!

I tested it yesterday for 2 hours in a different car and I didn't get one false alert! It was all different driving than usual, but it still makes me think it's my car doing it. It happens so often (1-5 times every time I drive), that it's getting too annoying to handle. I'm going to call the company and ask what's going on.

send it in for repair. mine from escort would go off every time i floored the gas. did it going up hills but not as often. I took it to escort and they fixed it in about 10min.and it was out of warranty. he just said it needed an adjustment.
