Staples has the seagate 3TB for $115 after coupon

Is this considered a good deal? I wanna use as an internal drive. Or is the samsung f4 deal better?

The Samsung has a 3yr warranty the Seagate is 1yr

Yes, this is one of the best deals I've seen on a 3TB drive recently. Really tempted to jump on it

Does Seagate keep track of that stuff? WD doesn't. I just gave them the serial number of the bare drive and had it replaced under the internal drive's warranty.

$115 is pretty good for a 3tb, if you need 1 today, if you keep an eye out you may be able to land 3tb's as low as $60-$100 B&M YMMV

Been on the good & bad end of these situations, my experience w/ internal drives and warranties varies by manufacturer:

Hitachi - Never had a problem sending in drives pulled from external sources.
Western Digital - Same as above
Seagate - Denied twice, approved once (after excessive bitching..)

That's not a fair assessment at all, warranty periods are based on more than that. For example Maxtor used to have the best warranty in the business, yet their products weren't as reliable as the other major players...they were trying to gain marketshare by providing a better warranty than the competition. Take a look at Kia/Hyandai (spelling?) as well...same thing. Don't think anyone's going to argue a Kia is higher quality than a BMW, but BMW doesn't have to offer a 10 year warranty to move cars.
