Used three of these drives for work. Everyday backups and read/writing 20gb-100gb at a time. They died within a month of each other after a year and a half, surprised they lasted that long with what we put them through. Not bad, and since they have the warranty I recommend them, just expect if them to send you a list of steps they want you to do to confirm drive is dead, you know the stuff we already did to make sure we couldn't get them to work anymore.
And I wish people read when someone writes that they don't know because they never wanted to open up the shell of the external that has the only copy of most of their digital life.
Anyway... now that I'm actually at home with the thing and can spend a minute learning how to ID a drive without opening the shell, I can tell you it's a WD20EARS-00MVWB0[wdc.com].
Don't think I want to buy two for a RAID 1 because of the "IntelliPower" rotational speed.
Pretty good deal if they contain the WD20EARS. Those are going for $120 on Amazon right now.
