The guy at customer service was really good to you. OK. It goes like this. You need not be afraid to try it again. The only difference now is that you know to be gentle and to dry to drop it in, as opposed to sliding it in, do you know what I mean? You keep one finger on the board to steady your hand as you lower the processor into the exact position. |

You made all the right moves, ran into a speed bump but didn't give up and when you did isolate the problem, your good luck stepped in. Heck of a good story and a bunch of experience at PC building. You got yourself a wonderful machine now and there's lots of room for upgrades in the future. |

OP has returned the damaged mobo, changed it, and built up the new functional system. |
