Just thought I'd add my two cents - while the regular Discover Cash back kind of sucks, you can definitely rack it up with their 5% quarterly promotions. When it is 5% back at restaurants, or gas, or hotels and you go on vacation, you can definitely get hundreds back in a year. You just need to remember to sign up quarterly, and to use the Discover card at the specific places that give you the most cash back.

Same is the case with Chase, Citi etc...so what sucks?? I can find better CB deals with discover eg. Apple store has 5%.

.25% on the first $3000 in purchases kind of sucks, and then 1% thereafter. I would rather use my Costco American express where the least amount I get is 1%, then add 2% off at costco, 3% off on gas, etc. Don't get me wrong - I like my Discover card. They are BY FAR the best to deal with when you accidentally miss a payment. Most of the time they don't even charge you the late fee, and if they do, you can get them to credit it back. Obviously don't make a habit of this, but there are times I've forgotten to log in at the end of a billing cycle, and missed the due date. No interest, and no late charges. I can't explain it, but frankly I'm not going to complain.

Discover is GREAT though on the number of places you can get 5% CB, and with their promotions. I definitely recommend them.

Nah. Ultimate Rewards Malls is the same as shop discover, you get some percentage cashback/points back depending on where you shop.

same here. I was putting 3k a month on mine for personal use and now its about 20 bucks a month. Use chase freedom for everything now.

first two year with discover, I got couples of 10 off 20 red lobster, 10off 20 kolhs coupons from discover, but nothing since 2012. just got a mail 2 months ago and sign up for something free I don't remember. but I got automatic sign up for each quarter 5% cb, and they will double the manufacturer warranty & reibm for whatever pay with discover ( I think chase prefer $90/year will do the same ). never use it yet, kept mail for further service.

shop d is good but getting suck. there were many stores I used to get cb but disappeared now on their list. now I use discover and chase half half.

I love the discover card when I use shop discover that I can earn 5% back on purchase thru apple.com, bestbuy.com and Walmart.com. Does chase offer that too?
