These worked for me! I had it all packed up with the RMA label. Opened it back up and all set. I tried 2 sets of drivers when I should have tried 3.

have you tested the headphone jack? did you test it before installing the drivers that fixed the issues?

Headphone jack and microphone work just fine. However, I didn't test it prior to installing the drivers. I installed drivers last night and this morning audio jacks were functioning fine, just like they should.

I tested the headphone jack after the drivers were installed and they worked fine. I didn't test them before the install so I don't know if it has anything to do with it.

I haven't tested the mic jack yet but I imagine it should work fine at this point. Are your headphone and mic jacks not working after the drivers?

GUYS, INSTALL THE DRIVERS!! USB 3.0 DOESN'T WORK UNLESS YOU INSTALL THE DRIVER!! wifi also need a driver install!! dont' complain about it unless you install everything,


well anyway... i got everything working and now i don't have sound coming form the speaker... i am returning to Dell for repair today... headphone jacks works fine tho

anyway, rather than sending the laptop back to cowboom, my laptop has 200days warranty left, spent 15mins live chat with dell, they schedule to have a tech coming to my office and replace the speaker right away, WOOHOO!! NO PACKING NEEDED!!

Update: Finally had the tech come out to replace motherboard and DVD drive. I requested a new OS and drivers disk and the tech brought them out as well. Installed Win7 with no trouble, everything is working. Took forever to install all the different drivers. Too bad the built-in Ethernet is only 10/100. Overall pretty nice laptop.

Don't forget, BestBuy has the colored lids on sale for $9.99 (pink, blue, and red), in case you want to spruce the laptop up a bit.

Also, the laptop has a Intel 6150 WiMax card, and so can connect to mobile broadband services from Clear, Sprint and (in my area) Comcast and TimeWarner. Clear has a basic plan for $35/mo for 1.5Mbit down.

Why are you installing/suggesting synaptics drivers for the touchpad ... from Dell Support I see "Alps TouchPad drivers" are what I should use? TIA

it is possible that they've changed the touchpad since mine. i bought mine at the first release and they may have changed some parts.
