Just like the bridge/road tool fee increase (Help pay for new bridge or repair) - The bridge repaired/replaced (and paid for) but the toll increase remains

In Cali voters are asked to vote for a % sales tax increase this year. Supposedly to help pay for education. I bet if the increase is approved, class sizes will-
increase again
teachers will still get pink slips
and more furlough days will be added -oh and don't forget extra prop tax to help pay 4 it all.
The government at local/state/fed levels need to be held accountable.

Exactly. In Texas, if you are making such purchases, and not filing a use tax return and paying the use tax, you are committing tax evasion in the state of Texas. I think all states that impose a sales tax also have a use tax. (Pretty sure the no sales tax states don't have a use tax. I know for sure Alaska does not).

Not filing a use tax return (or however you report use tax in your state) is the same as not filing a tax return. Do Slickdealers not file income tax returns? Do they advocate it? I'm just shocked that people are allowed to openly discussion tax evasion here, since not report and paying use tax is tax evasion.

For those who're wondering why this is in hot deals forum - It's merely an FYI to Texas residents. Given the nature of the news I don't expect this to be a very positive thread, but more so a heads up to go ahead and make any large purchase you may be holding out.
