Costco has the Delonghi Pinguino 12,500 BTU portable A/C for $389-$50 instant rebate= $339 + tax

This unit gets good reviews and has worked great for me for the last 3 months, cooling a medium sized room (16x14ft). Some of the older reviews talk about some issues with the units clogging, but it seems like these have been addressed in the newer model, according to other reviewers and my experience.

I got it when it was at regular price. Went to costco today and bought it, then returned it with the old receipt.

This deal is published in Costco booklet but does not require you to bring coupon, instant rebate is applied automatically.

Not only is a great price IMO, but is covered under Costco's lifetime return policy.

This item is not in their website, B&M only.

Link for reference [costco.com] since $50 instant back appears to be in store only. Also title claims 12,500 BTU 4-in-1, which I haven't been able to find any indication of existing (link is for 12,000 stated BTU, probably still the right product given the price points listed)

^ Actually, the product at the store is a different model number, and is 12,500 BTU. As stated in OP it is not posted at their website.

Woohoo, I've just bought it today at Costco! Smilie

This thing is heavy, must have weight at least 80lb+

I am also surprised to see that the fan blows real HARD at the lowest setting. This AC unit looks nice & works really well. But it is moderately loud even at the lowest setting.

Comes with two storage bags. One for the AC unit, and the other one for the accessories.

is this lower energy than cooling the entire house? i've seen reviews of certain units that draw more power to cool 1 room than your entire central cooling AC unit does cooling the whole house due to inefficiencies

I just returned this unit a couple days ago, because it broke withing a few days. It draws a crazy amount of power, something like 3,800watt and also has a built in heater, which nobody needs. This is a crappy model from my experience.

I'm not sure about that... probably depends on how well your house is insulated. I was interested in the dehumidifier for the summer so we could keep the AC set higher and still sleep comfortably. Also, after going without power for about a week last July, this would be nice to run off a generator.

I bought Costco Sharp portable AC unit four years ago and still going strong like new. I don't think this Delonghi is the same durability.

How much power does this use? I'm looking for something to use in a warehouse that's about 20x30 with 20ft high ceiling.

Thanks OP for posting it. i was looking at it last week at my Costco looks good to me. I was wondering if you have any link for life time Costco warranty. I guess it depends on the manager and told at my Costco by a assistant manager that her boss instructed them not take any item back after certain period. The way she explained it to me sounds like companies take item back up to a certain time period and after that Costco has to take the loss and generally they sell it to a third party about 30% of the cost of the product.

This portable air condition sucks. My mom just bought it today to cool a small bedroom in a house that my parents are temporarily renting while their house is getting rebuilt. From what I saw it is mostly made of cheap plastic, you can't adjust the vents, and it took a while (almost an hour to get it down from 84 to 75) to cool a small 10 x 8 bedroom. If you can get the Idylis 12000 btu one from Lowe's instore for $298 it is much better. Cools my 12 x 10 bedroom in less than 30 minutes. It is a little bigger but has a wider vane, adjustable vents and feels like its built more solid than the Delonghi. If I didn't purchase the Idylis and not have something to compare the Delonghi to I probobly would think that the Delonghi is a good portable A/C. Idylis may not be a popular brand but it sure does perform like one. The Delonghi looks and performs like a cheap knock off brand. Posted the deal a few days ago. Link below.

I have an older Delonghi Pinguino that's still going strong after 10 years. They are built really well. I paid way more than 339. I'm sure they were btween $500-$750.

I originally got it because I lived in an apartment building where the super would only turn on the building's A/C after the first really HOT day. We would have 5 or so 90 degree days. Finally, it hit 95 and he would turn it on! However, since the rent included all utilities, I could run this baby anytime the bedroom felt hot. Would recommend them for rentors who live in buildings where all utilities are included.

I actually have 2 units. The first older one (about 10 years old) needs to drain via a mini pipe. The reservoir fills up after 5 hours. A newer one (7 years old) doesn't have that problem. They fixed that issue with the newer model. Both still work. I live in a house now so I have them in an attic. I will power them on when I need to work up there since my house's AC can't cool those areas. Also, I will run them in summer months when I work in the garage. However, they are pretty heavy so it is hard to take them up/down the stairs.
