FYI, here is stolen from FW:
How to use the 50k membership rewards smartly?
1. wait for gift card promotion. AMEX offers 10-20% off gift card sometimes (it's what the thread is about)
2. wait for Delta or BA promotion which can turn 1 MR to 1.5 delta or BA miles. (Currently BA promotion is active!)
3. transfer/sell them to the people who need it. Rewards2Cash.com is one example that offers cash for MR at 1.16-1.22 cents/point. YMMV and practice at your own risk.
3. Shop at Amazon and pay with MR. It only values at 0.7 cent each point.
5. transfer to other airline miles that you need.

wow, I thought it was Amex Gift Card themselves that are on sale...
If you buy an SSD today you will look like a fool tomorrow because there is a newer and better deal on SSD everyday.

It showed amex gift card at 40% off, is saying a $50 card is 6,000 points instead of 10,000, not too bad not to be tied up to a specific store
