The 90's called, they want their couch back. No way it's worth $300. It's 20+ years out of date.
Happiness and depression are both feelings, just like joy and anger. It's not feelings that give us problems. It's what we do with them that makes the difference.

No, you should be looking for a Hancock & Moore Leather Sofa then, you would really be getting a good deal; as Hancock & Moore will replace any of the cushions for "free" for the lifetime of any of their pieces, if the cushions are no longer viable (as cushiony as they were originally). When you find one of those on CL then you have found a good deal, and make sure that whoever has it for sale, has also taken care of it, by using Leather Conditioner on it, as any piece of furniture made of "real leather" should be cleaned twice a year with the proper Leather Conditioner made for that specific type of leather. Otherwise, the leather dries out, after all it was a "living animal" at one time; and although it went through a tanning process; it still needs to be "cared for" by the owner of it after purchase. This is something many people do not do; which ages the leather faster, creating cracks in the leather. Think of car upholstery that is leather; if not conditioned properly, it will crack. Same goes for good leather furniture
![]() Search for Hancock & Moore furniture and see if you are able to find any, if so, I'll give you a link to someone who knows the line very, very well; and would be able to tell you if the selling price is good, bad, or ugly; and whether or not the piece is even worth purchasing. Sometimes you run across a fabulous deal, sometimes you run across shit that has not been cared for. It is not a cheap furniture line, and those who put pieces up for sale know what they have; if under priced, I would worry about the condition of it, and would want to see it in person. Normally there is a "flag piece" under a cushion telling you what the leather is on each piece; as well as showing the Hancock & Moore name under the cushion, with markings as to who signed off on the making of each piece as it went through production. Just my humble opinion on this, and I've seen good pieces of Hancock & Moore go for that price range, from people simply needing to sell it quickly; if you have time on your side. ~ Everyone is gifted - but some people never open their package ~ ~ You were born an original. Don't die a copy. ~ ~People only see what they are prepared to see.~ |

You are right in the prime time right now for buying a piece off the floor of a high end furniture store for this type of furniture. They are about ready to change their lines over in most stores; so they will be putting up for sale their floor models at this time of year. So go on the hunt to "high end" only furniture stores. DO NOT step into a "chain store" the do not sell this line of furniture. You must find a private furniture store to find this brand, so do your homework. Go there to several and see ONLY Hancock & Moore furniture, there are many different types of sofa's, recliners, chairs, etc. to look at, sit in, lay on, whatever - and try them all out, look at the original price tag (ignore the MRSP, as stores never sell at MRSP), and see what their sale price is for moving the old line off the floor, in place of the new items coming in. This is where you get your best deal. Anyone who knows anything about furniture knows this is the way to do it. Good luck with your search, you should be able to find something this way. If you are looking for a sofa, the 1st question is: what is underneath these cushions, how is this made, how is the frame made, and is it 8-handway tied coils. If they can't answer that last question with a yes, run away as quickly as you can. The frame should be made of specific wood material, in a manner that will hold up for decades, and I truly mean that; get informed on how furniture is made. I had a sofa that lasted 26 years, and the "bones" of it was as sturdy as the day I purchased it. The only reason I let it go, was because I could not find a matching piece for my husband, when I wanted to reupholster it. Hence going with Hancock & Moore. Why do you think that antique furniture lasts as long as it does, due to the inner construction of it. It's all in how it is made. Anything coming out of China is made like SHIT, believe me when I say that. ![]() Better luck next time

![]() If China really wanted to up the ante, they would not be making crap that doesn't hold up, has crappy seams, shitty wood frames underneath of it, lousy cushions, and I could go on about what is wrong with their lines of furniture. When brand names such as Stickley, Henredon, and others have gone over there to be made, when they were once a staple made here in the USA, there is something seriously wrong with this. My 26 yr old sofa was a Hendredon, the quality of Hendredon today is nothing like what it was when I originally purchased my sofa. I would never consider one today made like it is; as I would have had mine reupholstered before purchasing a new one, built the way they are today; the bones are not as good as what I had. Buyer beware ![]() Quality over Quantity imho. |

My sisters & SIL's ('The Coven' as I like to call them) give me all kinds of advice I never ask for and amongst that is the research they do that many good brand names save money by having their goods made (furniture bein' one of them) in China at the top quality factories, then they represent it as 'American made' for a huge markup. China makes more using the same or similar designs with similar materials (the so named 'leather matched' or 'married' leather pieces) and sell it to other brands or generic brands for a cheap price. The end sellers in America still make a massive profit from such gray market practices. Some of the stuff made and sold on the gray market falls apart fast but much of the customer spec stuff done at China's top quality factories under tight quality assurances produce fine furniture that lasts. I'm not shilling for China but they can really make some high end products and they do just that when paid to so do. But the QA has to be tight so some production manager doesn't cut corners to make more bonuses or sell the lesser stuff on the gray market. It has been going on for some time and will probably continue since everyone except the American consumer profits in the end. The consumer still expects a completely American made product (can be found but very rare and often misrepresented as 'American made') but can still be fooled or outright lied to without knowing or recourse. Furniture is just one of the products subject to such practices. It pays to do a lot of research...or have a LOT of sisters and SIL's to tell you everything. |
