Thread Details

Starting today, there is a semi-annual craftsman club sale that gives 10% on select items. One of those items are the Craftsman Polypropylene garage floor tiles in packs of 40 tiles. Current sale price is $87.99 with -$8.80 (craftsman discount) and add "SEARS2012" for another -$5 for a final rpice of $74.19. That comes out to $1.85/sq-ft which is about the cheapest I've ever seen on these types of garage floor tiles from the likes of RaceDeck, SnapLock, MotoFloor, Gladiator, etc.

Available colors at this price are: black, red, platinum, and beige:

Craftsman Black Polypropylene 1 ft. x 1 ft. Tile (40 - case) (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_1015...961015000P)

Craftsman Red Polypropylene 1 ft. x 1 ft Tile (40 - Case) (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_1015...961017000P)

Craftsman Beige Polypropylene 1 ft. x 1 ft Tile (40 - Case) (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_1015...961018000P)

Craftsman Platinum Polypropylene 1 ft. x 1 ft Tile (40 - Case) (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_1015...961016000P)

edit: heard back from my snaplock sales rep and was told they do NOT manufacture for craftsman. so these are definitely not by snaplock.

I am not seeing the Craftsman 10% discount. Is that only for Craftsman club members?

Does anyone know what the County of Origin is for these tiles? I'm just wondering if they are US-made (ie, by RaceDeck/SnapLock factory), or if they are from a Chinese supplier?

I think there are too many little "support nubs" between each attachment loop for them to be RaceDeck tiles. Both RaceDeck and Gladiator only have 2 nubs between each loop, while these have 5. Not sure though.

I had the same thought BUT i bit on the gladiator tile deal about a week ago for a few reasons:

1. For a quality epoxy coating from someone that knows wheat they are doing it was going to cost me almost $2k. My garage is 22' x 22'.

2. I can do these myself and not have to wait a week or two before i can park on it/put everything back in the garage

3. I can take these will me when i move.

Also, the gladiator tiles were even cheaper and i would think better quality: http://slickdeals.net/f/4238634-Gladiator-GarageWorks-Tile-Flooring-Red-Charcoal-only-2-67-sq-ft-Sears-free-shipping?v=1

I have a nice epoxy coating that is showing some signs of failure after almost 8 years(vehicle wheels have to 'turn' while parking rather than pulling straight in...I believe this is contributing to the bond failure). I don't look forward to a complete re-do of a three-bay garage floor.shake head Tiles could be in my futureWink

At ~$10/sq ft, plus clearcoat, your idea, while unique in design, doesn't seem all that slickConfused

To be honest, I haven't seen these yet. I have seen the Gladiator stuff and the RaceDeck stuff, both are good and made by the same SnapLock Inc. The Gladiator is a higher quality product though, even SnapLock admits that... so the previous Gladiator deal is slicker, but costs more. I think you can see these at your local Sears, so might be worth a trip if you're not too far to take a look.

I know your situation regarding epoxy flooring... they ALL eventually fail and get ugly. After 8 years is a good run for you though... i wouldn't complain if it happened to me after 8 years. Most of the time, they will fail way before that. That's why I've decided that I will eventually go with garage tiles, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet; just keeping an eye out to see what's out there.

Those are all good reasons, but also the Gladiator product is a higher quality product too. Based on my own research online, I think it might be the best on the market currently, even RaceDeck/SnapLock admits the product they make for Gladiator is the top-of-line and is the only UL rated garage floor tile right now.

Part of the choice for epoxy vs tile is a personal decision. But as you can see above, the epoxy will eventually fail and I've seen this so many times now I've decided garage tile is the way to go; so much easier to repair if needed too. Also, although you can DIY epoxy for $100-$200, having a professional do it right is easily in the $1-$3k range depending on your garage size. So, although the cost of this tile flooring doesn't include labor, it's easy to install and a simple DIY job so long as you have a weekend to work on it yourself.

I've been looking into this too, but haven't found any conclusive information who the actual manufacturer is. So many places are made by SnapLock though, I wouldn't be surprised if it is SnapLock. from the pictures and the piece of RaceDeck i have in front of me, I have to say they do look very similar. I may contact my SnapLock sales rep and see what they say....

Well, that might be true. But paying a high price could also mean some American CEO is just raping you for made in China products so he can have his outrageous bonus that is 1000x the average worker's compensation. Do your own research; you can't trust American companies and the people who run them.

My post was a response to the individual who said they'd rather paper their garage floor with $1 bills... those are made in America. Ya dig?
