Actually this machine can support 16G. I know that some of the websites say 8 but in fact this one can support 16 as per conver with HP(because it was suggested that it could so I had to ask) And I agree 6 should be enough ... I think someone should just invent plug n play PC's for Dummies lol I have a 64 bit system...if that matters ... Last edited by stardesire; 05-01-2012 at 04:06 PM.. a solution in search of a problem?
Ok, I'll pile on the bandwagon...6gb of memory is more than most people have. Remember that Windows 7 often tries to use the memory to keep things ready to go, sort of. So if you see your memory being close to maxed out, that doesn't necessarily mean you need more memory. It's just that Windows is made to keep more things "on deck" and ready to go now. Video card: if the on-board graphics do what you want, then don't worry about it. If you decide to upgrade, even a $50 or less card can do a lot. For instance, something like a 9800gtx+ or GTS250 (same card, different name) can play Battlefield 3 pretty well at 1440x900 resolution and medium graphics settings, and that's the most graphics-intensive game on the planet right now. CPU: it won't beat the newer and higher-end stuff, but that's a very solid CPU, even today. Again, it's enough to play BF3 pretty well with. If you upgrade the power supply, there's not much point in getting something less than at least 400 watts and a decent brand. There's deals for those around here for, what, even $20 sometimes. And nowadays the big 600, 700, or more watt ones have become more mainstream and lower in price. You don't need a 700 watter even if you put a very good video card in it, but just sayin'. If you think Firefox is hogging memory, see if adding the extension called MemoryFox helps. You can set it to auto-purge the Firefox memory every x amount of time. I don't think it's needed anymore, but it made older versions of Firefox useable. Or just use Opera, since Opera is great.

Like I said , I think we are dealing with one poorly coded web app here and not a system problem since there is only one place that seems to have a problem. Don't dwell on it, and move on from those silly fb games anyways
