Must buy at this price, did some research, purchased another one as a spare.

Just an FYI:

I recently bought a refurbed home theater system from the Sony Outlet. Great price, free overnight shipping...to Hawaii no less. When it arrived, I opened the box and found that the receiver unit looked like it was dropped...HARD. A large portion of the back corner was crushed in. The dvd door was cracked off. The bottom metal plate looked like it had been separated from the body. If you shook the receiver, there were loose pieces inside. The funny thing is that the dvd player was wrapped decently well in bubble wrap, and the box it was delivered in wasn't damaged, which leaves me to believe that it was already damaged in the warehouse before it was delivered.

I was expecting Sony to be of great quality...even on refurbed stuff, but if that's the quality of their refurbs, I don't think I'll ever buy from them again. It's no wonder the Sony brand has been on the decline...

On another note, I was able to send it back right away, but they took more than 2 days after the fact to tell me that they wouldn't be able to replace it & tried to up-sale me on a new, more inferior home theater that was more expensive.

If I don't have a 3d tv am I better off buying the bdp-s185 for $75

You spent 30% of the purchase price on a warranty? That's too much IMO. Squaretrade is $16 for two years and after coupon it's $11.

The way I see it though...were this refurb player to break down next year, it's likely I won't find another player with the same specs/features for only $60. Spend $20/$30 on the replacement plan now and get a replacement player worth $200 shipped to you if it ever breaks in the next 2/3 years. Worth it? I'm still not sure.

for $60 bucks this is steal. you can only get very basic bluray player at this price point.
