Are you sure about that? XP doesn't like GPT formatted drives at all, it needs MBR.

(this only applies to using the drive as an internal one using it as an external USB it should be ready to use as is).

I don't know what its formatted as, but regardless, you can throw it into any windows box and should be able to tell disk manager to format/partition as you like.

Is there any way to use the full 3TB in an XP 32-bit machine as a secondary drive without purchasing add-on SW? Seems like Paragon GPT Loader is one of the only options for getting this to work internally with XP 32-bit. Thanks in advance if anyone can provide some info.

If you use this drive AS IS with the enclosure, then your XP 32-bit will show the whole 3 TB with no additional software or installation from you.

If you remove the drive from its enclosure and use the drive as an internal drive to your computer then you MUST reformat it using your Windows Administrative Tools - Computer management - Format with GPT not MBR. Your drive will show as a 3 TB drive. If you do NOT format it as GPT (only needed to use as an internal drive) then it will show as 2 partitions 2 TB and 1 TB plus some overhead.

Thanks for the response. I guess my concern is that everything I've seen states that xp32 bit does not support GPT. Thinking ill just use this as external and get a 2TB drive to save the hassle on xp32.

I would assume so, at least at Costco. The regular price was $139.99. I'm sure other places will have it for $120 sooner or later.
