i have this card and i can hardly use it. other better cards to use with at least some type of reward.

slate won't give you convenience check and since i don't carry a credit card balance....this slate card is not very valuable to me.

Sorry to hear thatFrown but please keep us posted if you find out why. I just made a BT with an amex business card and it would really be a pia if it gets rejected.

Amex rejected my balance transfer and returned it to chase. 10 days after receiving it. Said i violated their cardmember terms. What 'terms' the letter didn't say. Aaargh.

Just FYI for anyone -- I got approved a couple weeks ago for this card with a $3000 limit. My credit score was 719 at the time I applied (but it's probably changed now due to the hard pulls for getting the card and subsequent limit increase) and I wanted to transfer close to $10k in balances from other cards to this one. I called and initially got declined for the increase, but then spoke to someone in the credit limit department and they immediately approved my $10k limit request and transfered all my balances.

Applied and was instantly accepted online. Called in to find out limit was only $400 . Requested an increase which was rejected and transferred over to credit specialist. Reason for reject was because I have a new sears card I used for large purchase recently on another promotion (fridge and washer/dryer) and high utilization on one of my other cards - which I was aware of. I wanted the BT so I could more aggressively pay a card down before the no interest/no payments promotion is up. Explained that to them and they were able to increase it to $3000 and transfer some of my balance- which will help.

This should at least help me pay stuff down a little more effectively until tax return next year which should make me debt free. I used to have a kind of decent score of 730 but irresponsible use of credit and compound car repairs I had to charge in emergencies brought me down to around 650. Now I'm around 680 - hoping this time next year I can be back as I definitely want to look into owning a home. Just glad the interest wont be eating me up as much.

Just wanted to chime in for the results list and to share my story for anyone in a similar situation. Thanks OP

This sounds exactly like my situation. I applied but got denied though. I just wanted to do a balance transfer with one of my Capital One cards that's almost maxed at $2500 because of car repairs, they are charging me like 23% interest. My credit score is somewhere around 625 - 650. I really needed this card to pay down my debt without being ate up with interest.

it means that if you get a transfer on day 1 of the month and pay it on the 10th, you pay interest for all that. No exception like with regular purchases.

So I have a Chase checking account and wanted to apply for this card to do a BT from a BoA Amex (the card is closed). I called BoA and I cannot do a regular BT. I was reading some of the thread and some people said I could have the money transferred from the Slate to my checking and then write a check to the card where I want to do a BT.

Is this correct? What kind of interest is there for that kind of process? Should I call to apply and let them know of this? Or do I apply online with the BT amount and if it gets rejected, will they apply it to my checking?

Did you ever find out what terms you violated? I just made a large purchase on my AMEX card and will be transferring the balance to the Slate card and I don't want them to reject it. I could have paid with the Slate card instead, but wanted the points.

Thanks OP. Had decision pending (probably because I already have 2 chase cards opened within the past year) but called and got approved for $4700 with a balance transfer of $4200 for the 15 months 0%. Had to move over 1k from my freedom card, but not a big deal.

I did the balance transfer from one 0% card to another. For those who question the logic behind carrying a 0% balance.. it's good to have cash in the bank for a rainy day and with all the 0% promotions you would be ignorant not to take advantage of them. :]
