i dont carry a balance but i was wondering if there is a way to make money on this card? am i missing something TIA
One way to make money on this, is if :
1. you transfer and/or make purchases with this card.
2. you take that cash and put it in something paying interest
3. earn as much interest as you can for the 15-month term.
4. pay off the card
5. keep whatever interest you have made.

that being said. There are not a lot of high yield savings or CD accounts with short terms these days.

BUT, around here. several Credit Unions are offering 3% and 4% savings accounts right now. So, I would say look around your area and see what the Credit Unions are doing.

true slickdealers dont carry a balance..
That is probably the stupid thing i have read. If you took 10,000 of their money and bought apple stock with it 15 months ago, it would be worth $20,000....And you would have been paying ZERO percent on the 10k borrowed. I used to do this all the time when these offers were more common place and interest in banks was 5% or more...

A great example of a way to use an offer like this is to take advantage of some of the great credit card bonuses out there such as:
  • Chase Sapphire (40,000 points after spending $5,000 in 3 months)
  • Chase INK Bold (business card - 25,000 after first use then 25,000 after spending $10,000 in 3 months)
  • Starwood Preferred Guest AMEX (10,000 points after 1st use, 15,000 after spending $5,000 in 6 months)
  • British Airways Visa (50,000 Avios after first purchase, 25,000 after spending $10,000 in the first year, an additional 25,000 after spending $20,000 in the first year).
So, a great way to take advantage of these is to buy gift cards for all the places that you frequent with the year (gas, groceries, department stores, mall gift cards, walmart, amazon, etc) and put those gift cards on your credit card that offers points after meeting spending thresholds. After you get these bills, transfer them to the Chase Slate card (link in the op) and pay that off throughout the year as you would your regular purchases. In the process, you have earned some great rewards even if you aren't able to meet those spending requirements on a normal basis.
*Chase will auto-deny you if you try to apply for a second card within 30 days. Best approach is to wait at least 60 days (better if 90) before applying for another Chase. You can apply for a Chase personal and business card in the same day.

As an Economics major and someone who had a few internships and education in wealth management and personal finance, you never take a debt to "invest". Of course you can argue that investments are debt to begin with but it depends on the risk involved. If you really wanted to have zero risk, you can take $10k out of 0% interest on a credit card and put it in a CD or treasury and get a measly 3% return. Better than nothing. But if you're using that money to invest in stocks or something with more volatility (not to mention short term investments) then that'd be a seriously risky maneuver. That's how people who haven't had education in finance get in the hole big time trying to "invest" in the stock market or forex or something.
But if you know what you're doing then go for it. Probably not the best advice for MOST people out there. Rule of thumb, pay off your DEBT before you INVEST.*

It find it so funny people who look down on carrying a balance at all. If you can carry a balance without paying any interest or fee, its free money. You're basically get a 15 month loan for free. Assuming you pay it off before interest is charged, how is that not slick? At the very least, take the money, throw it into a savings account and make some money off it.

Not sure why the TD for incorrect info -- I attached a screen shot...
Ignore the TD. They are from morons who TD anything that is not technology or can't use or don't understand.

I already have too much of credit line from Chase but still TUpped and repped.

I hopeful some other companies will follow the no-fee TB option

What's the credit line people are getting approved for. I just don't want to go through the hassle if they're lending in the neighborhood of $3K.

It is definitely slick, if you know how to play the game. People have made a lot of money playing over the last several years. Remember the days of 5%+ interest, and 7 figures of available credit card balance? Yeah, you get the idea.

If anything you can write a check that you cash yourself, then write a check directly to the mortgage.

Is this really that great of a deal? Most cards offer 0% balance transfer for 18-24 months with a 3% transaction fee. Assuming you get a 10,000 credit line, you are not going to save that much.

3 people with credit lines in and round 9-10K. That's a positive sign. How are your credit scores - good (700-725) or excellent (726+)?

Thanks!
