these are really nice, got in on the last deal at $4, got two but would not hesitate to buy another.

I wonder if this would be good to mount a flashlight for working at night.

I had one of these I got as part of a kodak video camera bundle. I liked it, but it didn't hold up --It worked fine few times then started "drooping." It seems the ball and socket joints started developing hairline cracks and loosening up.
This is bad when it happens to ball joints on the legs, but really bad when it happens to the joint right at the mounting point. Your camera (in my case, small Canon Elph) starts to sag to one side. As a repair, I wrapped it in wire and duct tape, which tightened the joint and worked for a little while (at the loss of some range of motion) and also really crappy. Who knows, maybe I got a bad one. It was handy when it worked -- and I may grab another just to see. |
