low profile DDR3 suggestion
I'm purchasing a used ASUS sabretooth P67 board with a I7-2600k and a hyper 212 cooler. It is also coming with 2x4gb of Corsair vengeance. I've bought the Noctua NH-14 and the Antec 280 case to go with it. I noticed the Corsair is not compatible with the Noctua so I was looking for a low profile 2x4gb set to use. Any suggestions on what to go with for this setup? I was thinking one of these maybe? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...20-231-460

OP, maybe you can try the "Ares" series of G.Skill memory, explicitly mentioned as being "Low Profile" : http://www.gskill.com/news.php?index=537 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6820231542 8GB for $40 seems to be the norm except for stuff that's on sale. There's also standard looking memory without a fancy (and probably non-functional) heat spreader: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6820231422 I find it ironic that the standard memory height is now considered "low profile". Nevertheless, actual low profile sticks also exist: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6820139046 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6820139923 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6820139398 (not sure what the difference between these three is) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6820147094 |

List of RAM on Newegg, already filtered for DDR3 and 2 x 4GB sticks, and sorted by Best Rating, so you can browse through them. There are plenty of good ones on the first page alone...I have always been a fan of Mushkin and GSkill for RAM, but many swear by the Kingston. You may have a color scheme or something that you're going for, so it's probably best that you pick out which one you want.

I wouldn't go with the ones listed in the first post. If I'm looking for low-profile, then I want truly low-profile.
I have some low-profile Kingston that have worked just fine, sitting under a big 120mm cooler. Hyper Blu or Hyper Blu x. One or the other. I think they're basically the same thing with different marketing. Kingston has a reputation for low DOA, btw. But, pretty much anything that doesn't have heat spreaders sticking over the top should work fine. Heat spreaders don't really do anything on DDR3 anyway other than for looks.
