This at least gives people options besides the typical Squier starters. Its a pretty good guitar for the price but there are several better guitars for just a little more. I posted a deal on the DBZ Barchetta and Linux posted one of the same guitars with a licensed Floyd Rose!

Last time these guitars went FP pretty fast. Guess a lot of people had tax money at the time! |

I'm thinking on getting back after a 6 mo. class I took a loong time ago of classical.. Now I have family and little kids which means I don;t have much time anymore and for what I read electric is the best to start learning... so with a beginner with not much time should I go with wither this (or the dbz offer which looks better because of the case) or go for a cheapo ?

A crap guitar or one that has a poor set up can pretty much ruin your learning experience. Whereas, a guitar that feels smooth and easy to play can encourage you to play more, for longer and learn faster.... Although, theres nothing wrong with the guitar here. Perfectly playable but then you will need some kind of case too. I think the DBZ deal is a better all around deal for you. |

Just an FYI I got in on the DBZ Barchetta last time around (Gun Metal Gray, awesome color). I was actually surprised at the different tones I could get out of it - the coil tap pull really quiets down and clears up the sound. I can get a pretty convincing Strat-like SRV Lenny blues sound on the neck pickup which I would not have thought possible looking at the guitar.
However, it was in desperate need of a setup (no biggie), the coil tap knob is EXTREMELY loose (as in you can almost spin it, again no biggie as I can fix it), and the action is high (again, fixable). The only thing that got me bugging is the intonation screw on the A string is frozen in place ... and the flippin' A is off by like a quarter step. I haven't really had a chance to do a full restring and setup on it, but those issues aside, I have to say it's one hell of a guitar w/case for $200. I was going to flip but even with those issues I'm keeping it. And I'm leaning towards another one lol. This Washburn is good too though. Honestly, any of these guitar deals posted here from WMS you're definitely gonna get your $ worth and, aside from a setup, would all be infinitely better guitars than some of the cheap Squier Starter crap. |

Nice deal here. And the DBZ ones as well |
