I bought a "Cal King" 8" memory foam for $210.XX a while back... It was from this link:

I like the mattress and presently I am looking to buy another one.. But something definitely closer to the earlier price... I am not too sure if spending the extra $200 for this makes sense... Any help appreciated..

That one has even less memory foam... 2.5"

Whats a decent amount of memory foam in Inches as well as density? because I am planning on buying 2 full mattresses and a King for the family and knowing what to buy would be awesome.

I agree with what hkimb posted. I've been on the verge of buying a memory foam mattress and have pretty much decided on the 14" LUCID that was posted under the amazon link.

However, I would always test out a similar bed at a store before purchasing. It's a decent sized purchase, so it's nice to have an idea of what you're getting (can't always trust others' reviews). I went to a Slumberland and tested out a few Tempur-pedic and Sealy beds. Found out that I do enjoy firmer memory foam beds, which I'm assuming the LUCID to be.

They rate mattresses on stuff like owner satisfaction (%), price ($), density (lb_f?). However, the website doesn't have any reviews on Linenspa, which makes the LUCID mattress.

The reviews seem to terrify me more than the people that posted about how awesome these are... also about the density.. as it gets higher.. does it get firmer or softer.. not sure how they are correlated. Just wondering.

Got my son one, and wow it's comfy. Wife initially hated it. Tried it a few nights ago, and slept like a baby. Highly recommended for a guest or kids room. Try it there, and if you like it, buy one for yourself. We got a cheap one off ebay that was meant for an RV (no fire retardants, but less toxic fumes).

The mattress in the overstock link lets you select the firmness. Denser = firmer.

Bought a memory foam mattress for the Wife when we moved into our new house. I previously had a King standard spring mattress with a 4" memory foam topper that was about 20 years old. Still IMHO one of the best beds I ever slept on. But I chose to "upgrade" to memory foam regardless.

While I believe I sleep better and feel more rested each night, a few things I have noticed:

You need to turn these mattresses more often to keep from getting soft spots or low spots in the bed. I still sleep well...but we need to turn it often.

It's not for those newly married. By that I mean (all due respect, but it's important) anyone still having the relations. Even the firm bed like ours makes certain positions uncomfortable. Kneeling is def not easy on these beds. On the upside...forces you out of the bedroom, making things more exciting?

Don't use a memory foam pillow with a memory foam mattress. I currently do and the only reason is it was broken in long before I bought the mattress. The pillows are often very firm and with a mattress would hurt your neck. Just my opinion.

I paid $400 shipped for our King mattress from Overstock 2 years ago. I feel it will last another 3 years (roughly) before needing replaced.

As for the foam and density, as others stated - go for the more dense foam, you'll be happier with your purchase long term.

wouldn't having a denser mattress be worse.. I mean it might last longer.. but wouldn't you be feeling pretty much as if ur sleeping on a floor? I tried a few 4 lb ones and they didn't seem too shabbby. Hopefully I can make up my mind by the end of the month.. or else might just pick up anything cheap and "will do"

So I'd imagine it's safe to say that these are an especially poor choice for those who enjoy frolicking with the occasional goat or ewe lamb?
