I paid $85+tax for the 2TB 7200rpm external USB3.0 (Staples; Seagate GoFlex) and felt like I could have gotten a better deal if I waited. This 1TB for $70 shocks me it is this highly rated.

holy crapola... i picked up a few of these last summer at Target on clearance for roughly $17 each. $70 seems too much for me now, but I guess it's where the market is at now. Can't wait for HDD/SSD to pick up in production and drop more in prices. Already picked up a few M4s, but need some storage backups.

got this drive for 55$ +tax at staples last week since I really needed storage...but that post just got a bunch of thumbs down :X

I posted a 1tb portable 3.0 for $75 and people frowned, not that I gave a chit, I'm just saying weird things happen here

Just got the 1.5 TB Seagate at Staples for 65 plus tax....I've had nothing but problems with my WD external drive. I believe the Seagate also comes with a 2 year warranty, and is 5900 RPM.

$17 bucks for a 2 tb hard drive? I am calling bull crap on that one, sorry. And half of these other claimed prices that I have seen have all be refurbs.

If you're planning to get this then be warned that there is a huge issue with this. After maybe a month or two the transfer (read/write) will slow to a crawling point. I bought two of these and had to return both. Search for it as it is a very well known issue. WD will not fix this bug.

I wonder if people are confusing these "portable" drives with the regular external drives. These are the 3.25 inch drives that don't require a power adapter (even though one is provided). I have seen these drives on sale for as low as $70 but the prices haven't really dropped on them.
