New AVR
Hey,My HK AVR 254 died a few months ago, and I need to replace it. I REALLY like the look of the HK AVRs, they are really slick, and the sound and number of connections was great, but I am a little afraid of their quality now... I quickly tried a Yamaha and I have to say that their auto equalizer was a lot of nicer than the horrible HK noise... but it didn't have audio jack input for 7.1 and it was fairly ugly... I only have a 5.1 system today, but when I bought my previous AVR I was thinking of expanding to a bigger system one day, though maybe I should worry about that later. HDMI is a must too. The rest... So looking for a great deal on a great AVR! Thank you! |

It's not as sexy as the HK and lack the 7.1 (that I never used), but is cheap and has enough jacks to please me when using something with only jacks.
Would I be dropping in "quality" by going that way though? Thanks! |

I don't have a Yamaha but a Harman Kardon, I just tried the Yamaha when my HK died but didn't really like it

Ended up getting the 1712 at Frys, quite more expensive than the 1312 but I really wanted some minimal
"quality" and I was afraid the 1312 would not cut it... Thanks guys! |
