How to edit default weather on HTC Evo 3d

I just got a used HTC Evo 3D today and while at the Sprint store I had them reset it to factory settings. I notice though that the weather on the mail desktop always shows Charlotte, NC. I live in Charleston, SC. I added my city to the weather list but I can only view that weather if I open the weather app and scroll to Charleston. I went into the list but it only shows Charleston as an added city (no Charlotte listed). How do I delete Charlotte as an option?

Are you talking about the widget? I *think* you have to delete the widget and then re-add it and it'll let you set your location. It's been a while since I used Android, so I could be wrong.

Probably the widget. After the factory reset it was already a part of the desktop. How do I delete that widget? (I'll try to figure it out on my own but hopefully someone will still respond in case I don't get it).

Hold your finger on the widget (which is the default thing on the desktop) and a garbage can should appear. Drag the widget to the garbage can. Then to re-add it, hit the menu button and there should be an "add" (or similar) button.

It was a little more complicated than MENU > ADD but I did figure out how to delete the widget and then add it again which prompted me for "current location" although it still thinks I'm in Charlotte. How do I tell the phone where I am? My GPS is on as far as I can tell too

Well I can't seem to get it going. I deleted the widget and then just added the weather widget which lets me choose Charleston as the display city. It's not the same as the clock widget with weather built in but at least I can now see my city. I wonder if Ice Cream will fix the problem. HTC is supposed to release that to many of their devices right (namely the Evo 3d)?

Sounds like more of a problem with the user than the OS. ICS will be nice though when you get it What you are talking about is HTC Sense and it's a widget. You could always delete the widget and try one of the many apps that in the market that do this like beautiful widgets. I could help with that one if you get it.

GPS needs to lock on to 3 sats before you can get a location, more for more precision. If you are inside its possible this is not getting lock quick enough. You might try rebooting as well since the GPS gets stuck in some devices. Also most of these weather apps disable gps for location updates on them by default to save on battery life.

Well it seemed to work fine on my way home from work while in the car but while at home it gives me Charlotte still. I wonder if it has anything to do with my Airave that I have set up.

Do you have the GPS enabled? The SenseUI should update the location based on the GPS. If I remember correctlly, you should be able to tap the weather widget and bring up the settings. When I had and HTC with Sense, it had about three cities included that I deleted.

It could be the location of your house too. I live on the edge of town, clearly in city limits but once and a while it will put me in the tiny town to the south. This is because sometimes the phone is not using GPS to get location but triangulation through cell sites. This is far less accurate but easier on the battery. I know that on beautiful widgets I can turn on a mode that will force the phone to use GPS if I want to. Honestly I have never used HTC Sense so I can't give details into the settings of it, but I would think there is a way to set a hard location if you don't travel much.

Well, Charlotte is about 208 miles from my zip code so I don't know about that haha

data and gps are both on so I guess it's both. I'll have to see if using one or the other changes results

edit: so I turned off my mobile network and turned on gps (plus wifi to allow for an update if need be) and it switched to the correct city. after turning off wifi and gps and turning back on mobile network, it switches back to charlotte. why the heck does this happen? is this a problem with Sprint? HTC? what?

pulling location from network. trace the ip and see where it list. gps or none might be the way to go. none forces it to use the info you entered. my thought anyway.
