Yes, I totally thread-crapped this, but I bought one anyway. Looks like I got the worst / most common type.

All4cellular sells this mystery grab bag headset for $9.99 + 2.00 regularly, so if anyone thinks gambling is super fun, they can spin the wheel of misfortune once again.

I got the Plantronics Discovery 655. I see it sells for $30 refurbished, so still a deal for $8. Kind of pissed that it came with none of the accessories or the manual. Haven't used it yet.

This Plantronics Explorer 240 comes with a 5V 180mA charger. I know nothing about electronics, but I have read that generally you can charge with a higher amp charger as long as the voltage is the same. Would there be any problem with me using my 5V 1A charger on this?

I have so many 5V micro USB chargers around, I'd just love to use the fastest ones, as long as they're not going to fry anything. Please don't give me an electronics lesson with the answer, it'll just go over my head.

Not at all! Your headset will just pull as much as it needs. Since the 240's wall charger is 180mA, the headset will probably pull around 100-150mA to charge, so plugging it into a 1A wall charger won't do anything since the headset will only pull 10-15% of that amount
