IT'S BACK! Free Chipotle Burrito/Bowl/Taco/Salad with $30 Gift card purchase

So the free burrito has to be redeemed by June 30th. When does the $30 gift card have to be bought by?

I apologize if this has been answered but I didn't feel like sifting through all the nutrition/cost talk.

The 29th? since many can't redeem on the same day.. Didn't see any fine print on when you need to buy the GC.

giftcards go for full price on ebay most of the time--if the store is popular enough the price will probably even be a few dollars above value. if this fellow get's a bit past the $30 mark for his auction, he'll break even with the purchase price but will have recieved a free chipotle burrito. clever man. lol.

A thread like this is a reminder that there is no shortage of people who are willing to tell you what they think about how you live your life, down to the nitty gritty details of lunch. Food gets a lot of people on SD angry - specifically what food other people are eating. If you post a McDonalds deal expect to be drawn and quartered.

Yesterday we (wife and I) stopped by at the Chipotle near our apt (just 0.5 miles ) to do the deal. We planned to get 2 bowls, purchase a $30 gift card, pay with it and redeem the free bowl on our next visit.

We started placing the order and asked for black beans. They were out of it and asked us if we would mind waiting 5-10 mins for them to refill. We said not a problem and sat down to wait. As soon as we did, one of the guys (manager?) offered us 2 complimentary drinks while we wait. Wifey did not want to, so I told them we will take 1 drink and share.

In 10mins they were set and called us back to complete our orders. The cashier at the register rang us up for $14.50 for the 2 bowls and i asked him if I could pick a $30 gift card and pay with it instead? He said sure, and while he was cancelling the $14.50 order (to instead bill for the $30 gift card), one of the guys said something to him. The cashier then told us that they would not charge us anything today for the inconvenience!!!!!! Not for the drinks, nor for the 2 bowls!!!! He asked me if i still wanted to pick up the $30 gift card. I did.

We were very happy and impressed with their awesome customer service and friendliness. We thanked them and looked for a tip jar but could not find one anywhere. But we both will definitely be eating there more often, with or without the offer and spread the word around like this!

Interesting thing happened today at Chipotle when I took advantage of this deal.

I had my burrito made, spoke to the cashier and asked if I could use the free burrito even though it wasn't my next trip. He said no. So I asked if I could use the gift card.

After a few seconds of confusion, he swiped the GC he just created and charged me $8.95

Wait, what? After later inspection, since he did not separate the transactions he basically used the 30 dollar GC to pay for the 30 dollar GC. Leaving only the cost of my current burrito...

Wait... so if he used the $30 GC to pay for the $30 GC, leaving only the cost of your current burrito, how did that become a buy one get one free? Didn't you just end up paying for a burrito like you normally would if you didn't try to do the deal?

Sounds like a FREE BURRITO to me... since the net cost is $0 but you get a free burrito by buying the $30 GC.

Just scored my free burrito for lunch today. Got double meat (steak!) and guac for a total north of $11. I have never got extra meat or guac at a Chipotle before since I thought it was just too expensive, but that just made it super tasty.

Looks like I will be stocking up on these cards for the year now.
