The one from the op is OOS, but this [westerndigital.com] one is still available for the same price. Just ordered one myself, since it can be reformatted for windows and comes with usb and firewire.

I'm assuming that the specifications are incorrect, but they list the following:
Physical Specifications Capacity 2 TB Per WD's warranty page [wdc.com] it's 6 months. Remember to rep your server.

I've been debating between a 2-bay NAS in RAID 1 (cheaper, but ineffecient) or a 4-bay in RAID 5. 3TB of usable storage might be enough for me right now. Hmmm....

How does a new 3 TB Seagate external for 130 compare to a refurb 3 TB Western Digital for 115?

Also if you plan to use it as external, Seagate is USB 3.0 instead of USB 2.0. There are plenty of fanboys for both brands and unfortunately there aren't many choices.
