I'll say this as politely as possible: duh . That's what we do. Our deal editor's are sourced from our community and are given the latitude to post whatever deals they think are good.

I will say that there are only 6 of them, so sometimes deals slip through the cracks. I'll be honest and say there are times I've found deals myself that belong on the frontpage that they missed. It happens because they're human and this is a 24/7 operation that runs with 6 deal editors. So, I simply tell them about the deal that I think is worthy and they look at it..... but we also have quality guidelines:

Price must be good.
Merchant must be reputable.
Product must be reputable (real, not a knockoff, fake, etc).
Deal must work.
Deal must be accessible by the majority of users (meaning, we wont frontpage a deal if it only applies to one state or if its YMMV, because we have a nationwide audience and frontpage real estate is valuable).

However, we have been testing some geo-targeted deals based on your location, so if there is a deal at Microcenter or Frys (which, for example, only appears in certain states), we can display it to people.

As Mr. Slickdeals wrote, and as I wrote above, which you didn't bother to respond to: we post plenty of deals that don't make us money, plenty that apply to offline stores.

I challenge you, and you can freely challenge the deal editors, to find deals that should appear on the frontpage, and we'll tell you why we did or did not frontpage them. Or, if we simply did not see them.

could i possible make a recommendation to the site that might hurt you revenue but would help the user?

i know slickdeals always add a web referer for certain purpose, and i am not against it. nor do i think slickdeals should share profit like FW if it provides better use interface.

But. there are times when we are behind proxy, or behind ad filter that makes link unusable. the simplest case: tether you internet from a phone that has ad block or ad away. i know you will say: why don't you just white list those web referer links. well. let's just say it is not user friendly in Andriod to edit the host file, and many folks, including me, do NOT want to white list them not matter what. and we could behind proxy which you pretty much have no control over. at any rate, there are MANY times we had to copy the link address and manually remove the header.


what i would like to recommend, is to add a original link to the webpage. this link can be white texted and not hyper linked. or to create a drop down "spoiler alert" type of dialog box with the web link. most user will still click the regular link and give you the profit, and user can just copy and paste the link if the situation requires.

I can say I have made the frontage a number of times, and slickdeals was not getting paid whatsoever for the click and buy. I know this because multiple times it was for companies I worked for.

I have been on here forever it seems and I also know others that made the frontpage without sd making any money from it.
