It's a shame you can't use webtop with custom roms, motorolas stock rom is junk IMO. MIUI running ICS is nice, CM7.2 was very nice. Hopefully they get webtop & fingerprint scanner up and running with MIUI or CM9 and I will bite the bullet to buy one of these. Would like to install my own linux image also, not the stock motorola one. It is very limited in functionality out of the box, and they charge an outrageous amount extra to use the same data plan you already pay for... Ridiculous.

This is my setup out in the field. It works great and I've been using it for 9.5 hours so far and it's still going (probably almost dead though). I'm using a f-f micro HDMI adapter, micro hdmi to normal HDMI cable... and the round it out with a Displayport++ passthrough to HDMI adapter. Kind of sucks having to go through so many adapters, but it works for me. I also rigged up a USB cable (with the red power cut) between the devices and was able to get an extra USB out of the back of the lapdock for use as a hub. I can also control the brightness/volume/function keys from the keyboard. I think I could probably extend my ~10hours of life out of it if I halved the brightness. |

It seems that other folks are adapting this to smart phones other than the one intended. Not sure if they will be able to use the built in Firefox browser with other phones. Even if you can, tethering one of the fully functional 13-14" i5 core laptops (HP dm4) might be far more useful. |

I got this a couple weeks ago for my stepdad for $60 shipped. For what it's worth, he's not very computer savy but he seems to love it for sitting on the couch browsing the net. I played around with it a bit, decent little machine for the price if you ask me

My lapdock came and I determined that it was decective due to no sound. I checked all my settings on my Atrix, used the keyboard function shortcut, and the volume adjustment on the upper right toolbar with still no response.
I sent an email to returns and received a reaponse a few hours after. They offered to return my order, but did not state anything about refunding shipping fees for the return. Has anyone dealt with their returns and know if I will be picking ompensated. Thanks . |
