I'm getting the feeling that it's a complete waste of money to get the i7-3770k over the i5-3570k unless I am doing video encoding - for high-end gaming, it seems it won't make a difference. Better invest the $100 in a better video card.

Ivy bridge heats up real quick at higher voltages, but does quite well up until about 4.5Ghz. (This is based on what I've read on Anandtech and their analysis) |

Mb deal only on k chips
 The deal only applies to most processors that end in K (2500K for example), making them by far the best deal. Those not ending in K do not have any motherboard discount associated with them. |

What is the highest voltage and clock speed stock cooling can take? I tried ocing a few times. Lost my windows install lol

Unless you specifically do rendering or encoding, $100 is far better spent on a faster / larger SSD or videocard. |
