Toshiba BDX2250 Blu-Ray Player $30 AR FS

So, a bad BluRay player with a large, risky rebate from a questionable retailer. What's not to like? In for three!

I've never had bad luck with Tiger Direct, but plenty of bad experiences with rebates in general...

Thanks for the post...but I do have to agree..the reviews are just too bad. I can't remember in recent memory so many steady bad reviews on a (well known brand)-type product.

While this review is certainly "bad," it's not necessarily the BD player that makes it so:

"it takes years to read a blueray disc . also i was a bout lost a blue ray disco inside because the player frizes but finaly ejected , I tryed to program my tv remote to control it but it doesent work. device is not compatible whit a google tv. (my previous vizio brd player was) not evean my cable remote control works whit it no one of the codes make it work."

I've seen too many better BD players in the $50-$60 range, especially around BF to Christmas time, so I wouldn't buy this but wait for better deals. I also have a note in my "deal file" from many years ago that once upon a time people had lots of problems with rebates from Tiger Direct. I don't know if that is still true, but I tend to obey my notes which say avoid this. Once a company gets a note like that in my list, it rarely ever comes off. I did order once from Tiger Direct (not a rebate item) and got that item OK, so it's just the rebates I'd avoid.

Ok but how is that going to protect you? They will give you a new/refurb one with the same problems, This player has issues

If you can wait, look for better BD player like Sony BDP-S580 at $60 price range.
This happened on SD few days ago but not make it to the hot deal list because already sold out.
this toshiba has been on sale since last year. start from $50 AR and now going down to $30. I actually bought this last thanksgiving but glad returned it. I bet the price reflect the performance.

Yeah, I guess you're right... there have been a lot of sub-$60 Blu-ray players on the market. I've never had luck with Toshiba DVD or Blu-ray players... both failed on me within a year. A lot of the low-end Toshiba TVs & optical drives are made by Funai... which tends to be junk.

However, the TigerDirect rebate system is nothing like it was before. It's handled by 4myrebate, which is used by tons of companies including Asus, OCZ, and Patriot Memory...just to name a few.

Over the past few months, I've submitted well over 30 rebates from items at TigerDirect (mostly FAR items). The rebate company sends you automated messages indicating that they received your submission, and when it is approved. They also let you see a scan of the items they received. When the status says "Reward Card Processing", that means you should receive the rebate within 5 to 7 days.
