27" Planar TN Panel 1080p Widescreen LCD Monitor (PX2710MW) for $210 or $204 + Free Shipping

I tried googling, but couldn't find a definitive answer, does anyone know how to check if a system can support higher than 1920x1200 resolution monitors? It seems dual-link DVI support is required for high resolution monitors. I have an HP p6180t (another SD treat ) which has built-in intel GMA x4500 graphics. I can't tell if I buy one of these high resolution monitors only to find out that they aren't supported by my now more than 2 years old PC.

Thinking of buying.....is this a good deal?

Just out of curiosity, how can you tell that it's the glossy screen that is making colors pop and black look darker. Wouldn't you have to see a glossy and a non-glossy version of the same LCD panel connected to the same monitor hardware, and using the same video output settings on your PC?

Maybe you can put a piece of glass or reflective piece of plastic over a non-glossy screen to test this?

Do you see what I'm saying... this doesn't make any sense. I don't pretend to have all the answers. I concede that there could possibly be something about the top layers of the HP panel that improves color and black levels. After seeing the technology behind Nokia's ClearBlack digitizers, that certainly wouldn't surprise me. It would surprise me to find that a glossy display just naturally has better color and black levels than the exact same non-glossy display.

No need for the mockery. No it doesn't make sense, but if you sample the general population most will think the glossy screen have richer colors.

No matter what I do to the Planar 27" or the Dell 2412M, I can't get their colors to "pop" like it does on the ultra shiny screen. Let's face it, type typical person likes shiny things.
