I posted this in JoeSmith's thread but after ordering just couldn't get over the hotness of the deal and wanted to share. You get pretty much the same laptop as the 11z that's been FP a few times for $300, but for $20 less (+ no tax for most) and a free printer! Other combos available but this seemed to be the best bang for the buck.
NOTE: you need to register a "business" account with a tax ID. This can be just your name and social security # (if you're comfortable with that).
You're true to your word
As in the other thread, I'll say that I went with the 11z combo that included the Samsung S2 320GB Portable External Hard Drive for a cool $287.62 with free shipping. Another option for those not in the market for a printer.
Do anyone know if it is USB 3.0, Imax, or Bluetooth?
There is no bluetooth, but you can switch your half mini card to a wlan/bluetooth combo half mini card. Unfortunately, Intel 6230 was not working as others reported for. 11z models. I think some dell brand wlan/bluetooth combo half mini card should work, eg dw1702. http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/d...-card.html
Actually, there is one empty full mini card slot, for wwan/ broadband, gps, or tv tuner. You can upgrade if you want. I'm not sure this slot will accept msata for a ssd, if it does, that'll be awesome. Either way, this is a slick deal.
You can find the user manual for detailed instructions on dells website, but there is no im101z yet, only for m101z. The only difference between the two is cpu : amd vs Intel, I think.
I couldn't get the code to work either, so I called in. They told me the code was supposed to be working. They were able to give me up to a $50 refund over the phone after I put the order through (I would have only saved $53 if the code had worked). I got the combo with the Microsoft Mouse for $358.99-$50 = $308.99
I'm definitely interested as well. I'm now looking at several low-priced i3 and i5 laptops for my parents (they're computer dumb and need simple systems that just work, without much slowdown and problems for them to troubleshoot), and the awesome bundles for these seem to be just the thing for them. I've also been interested in getting ahold of an Arc Mouse myself, to be honest. It's an intriguing little computer accessory.
The i3 combined with the upgradeable RAM (stupid "ultra"books like the Folio 13 have non-upgradeable RAM soldered to the board...) makes this a clear value in my eyes. Just the sheer upgradeability in general, actually.
I'm looking at the bundle that has the Arc Mouse, the extra 2GB stick of RAM, and the 16GB flash drive. It's $358.99. A coupon code to stack on top of that price would be killer.
There's another page I found with the same iM101z laptop for $350, that also includes the message "Add $1 to get an ext. hard drive w/ combo, ends 5/30". I've no clue what that means / how you'd go about "adding an extra dollar" to your shopping cart / order. It almost seems like that description was phrased wrong. I'm also not sure which ext.(ernal, I assume, or "extra") hard drive would be included, though I'd hazard to guess the same one that's been bundled with this laptop all along. This is the page for that weird description, btw:
