Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E420 for 349.93 AFTER $100 Staples coupon at Office Depot, B&M, YMMV

3 reviewers on amazon had the machine die on them suddenly, 2 of them was due to the motherboard. An it took Lenovo weeks to fix and ship back. This is scary.

If this machine can be had at this price I think it's a pretty good deal. What would definitely help this thread is:

1.) Link to coupon (or let us know how to get it), and

2.) Local inventory checker.

Part of it is that, yes, they are different processors. Considering there's about a $100 price difference (give or take), that's a pretty big jump.

The other part of it is that there's a difference between the laptop version and the desktop version of the processor. The laptop version has to run cooler and use less power (to help battery life), so generally they are clocked lower and have lower voltage.

I'm not sure of the exact clock speeds of laptop vs desktop i5/i7's (mostly because I'm too lazy to look them up), but that difference can definitely affect the WEI score (and other benchmarks, of course).

1. I already linked the coupon, I replied to someone elses post.
2. CardFan posted the local inventory checker.

store manager said that staples had to have the same item in stock to honor the pricematch. sounded like a great deal until I found this out.

Um...ask for his managers information? The district manager maybe? It's clearance computers....as in not all stores will have it, how would he know what staples has ever had in stock?
