I know some people perfer the Acer over the thrive and vice-versa. imho I recommend the Acer Iconia over Thive but Transformer TF101 tops both

This has 16gb vs 8gb for the Thrive. Important for apps since it's harder to move apps to a sdcard. There are hacks to move your apps and run off sdcard.
My sister has Thrive and I have Iconia. Played with both. Iconia is sleeker,decent screen. Thrive feels a lot bigger but has a replaceable battery, IPS screen, and full SD card slot. Iconia got ICS recently. I think Thrive is coming soon. I like the looks of the Iconia better with the metal back but it's more slippery. I don't know if the Thrive has a flash with the camera but the Iconia does. I would go for the Iconia and put a custom rom on it. Last edited by yazyazoo; 05-03-2012 at 08:54 AM.. |

Very good reviews but seems like the Thrive sells more (more reviews and higher Amazon ranking). You can't go wrong with either. What are your needs? |

I have had the HP Touchpad and a no-name Android tablet and my wife has iPad 1. I have had the Acer A500 for 9 months and I love it. Would not trade it for an iPad. It is a very nice tablet. The full size usb slot is nice for watching movies. Got ICS a few days ago. I have used custom roms on several phones and the TP but have not found it necessary to flash the Acer. Stock rom has been great, especially now with ICS. Go for it!

It says it's running 3.0, but an update came out running 4.0.3 (ICS). I can confirm on mine that the update came out.

Bought a refurbed Iconia A500 a few months back and can't recommend it highly enough. Great screen, expandable, HDMI, thousands of free apps. Can confirm the ICS update. Mine updated a few days ago and is running flawlessly. ICS seems to add battery life as well.

I swear I think this seller gets some sort of 2nd rate refurbs and resells them. If you look through some of the other threads, a few of his tablets come DoA or mess up within a week or two. I've had to fight him to get a refund for my Transformer TF101 that was DoA and now having to go through a Paypal dispute.
