This really isn't as hard to do as you are making it out to be. Get the kid a gift just like any other special occasion. The gift could be anything, religious or not, money is always safe, the amount can be any amount you choose. How do you usually gift money? I usually give more to family and people I am close with. If this is just a coworker's kid and you aren't that close, I would thing $20 is safe.
I have never heard of giving the parent a gift in this situation, but if you are feeling generous, go with something you would normally take as a gift to say a party, bottle of wine perhaps? |

I would just give a card w/$$. Not sure why it's any different because you know the child is Mexican. Except of course you know that if he was American he was 'forced' into the sacrament. Good grief. Maybe don't attend? LOL
I would avoid giving religious gifts, since he probably already has the items or will get them from his family members. The amt of money just depends on the person. There is no right or wrong amt. As for a hostess gift...if you know they like wine, sure bring a bottle of wine. Otherwise, I'd just bring flowers. Last edited by KPS; 05-04-2012 at 10:51 AM.. |
