i think so, yes. if you have a basic understanding of your home network.

1. fairly easy, it will pull DHCP from your router and you would navigate to this IP in a browser for configruation
2. yes of course

5. it can send email and save to a share on your network or you could use software to interface with it for more control over recordings

all i did was apply the coupon, and click the google checkout option, and it showed on the checkout page on google checkout.

How well does the two way audio work on this camera?

for iOS the app will be "LiveCam Pro"

and for the price of a foscam, i would go for 2 Wansview for the same price

Wansview could be a complicate to set up, but little google search everything make sense

How does one use this as an overnight baby monitor? Doesn't the phone or iPad go to sleep and prevent sounds from coming through?

I bought a wansview last week and it is incredible.the only difference from foscam is that the wansview firmware does not support 2-way audio on FF or Chrome (need to use IE)

in for one more, got 3 with the last deal. This one is a bit more expensive but worth it for the single order

i have the older model and the Tinycam works great for android user.

I planing to buy a few for actual surveillance as we are home late. My only concern is powering these? what is the best way to get power to this? POE? Does POE require special switch?

I have the older model that sound is not good and audio is unsupported in many apps. If this really does well with sound, I'd grab it. We have a traditional audio only baby monitor and we have the older version Foscam setup to check in on the kiddo, which is a good setup even if this supports audio. You can check in if you hear something. I think some of the apps for iPhone/iPad and Android will keep the device from sleeping, so it is possible.

Anyhow, we love the older model as a baby cam. It is very convenient and really brings a lot of pleasure to see our little guy whenever we want. It's also nice that one of us can watch the other one when we are reading or playing in the room with our son. I'd highly recommend getting a video monitor and I also recommend Foscam. We have really enjoyed ours.

I also wanted to add that it is possible to setup multiple access restrictions on these. I have it setup where certain users cannot move the camera (mother-in-law while visiting). I also setup a dynamic DNS (dyndns.org) to view the camera over the internet. The camera also has uPNP which can automatically register the port forwarding with my router. I think its better to do a static IP on the camera and manually control the port forwarding, but too much info already.

In addition, there is some info on the net for using VLC to stream the feed from Foscam to your DLNA compliant devices. So you potentially could pull up your camera on your TV as well. I have a sageTV setup, and it didn't work well enough to show to the wife so I abandoned it.
